Thanks man, so far it's been great. Looks like you're running some big tires on yours.

Yeah it's always a good time. Not running too big. Just have 255/85/16. Great size but I would like to go bigger one day maybe.

Niagara area in Ontario. 2015 Black Dual Cab TRD. Only about 350 km on it so far. Still have my 2002 Ranger pickup. Hope the Taco is a good as the Ranger was. Has anyone installed the OEM chrome running boards. Thoughts on them?

Welcome @Zman28. The Tacoma is definitely better than the ranger based on my experiences with my brother in laws truck compared to mine. His is a year newer with lower Kms and its already having issues. Could be a lemon though.

Never had the running boards but you can get them off the Kijiji pretty cheap. They will definitely work better than sliders as a step, but offroad they may get damaged. But if your on road and not doing anything too crazy offroad they will work great. Nfab steps may be a little bit more robust and they do come in stainless I believe. Check out the southern Ontario thread in my signature for meet and greets if your interested.

I doubt I will ever go off road. I have way more Truck than I will ever use. Wanted a truck I could count on, a 13 year old Ranger with 300000k was not that. I have a Toyota Tri Fold bed cover on back order. I can't believe they sold it to me knowing there were 17 back ordered at the time.
I have the bug deflector and the bed mat as well. I called Toyota head office about the bed cover and they are apparently working on getting me one ASAP.

Awesome. Sounds like you have a great base for what ever you decide to do. Definitely have a bunch more room than the ranger with the 4 door.

I have the extended cab Edge with the 6 foot box, so it doesn't have a ton more room. When you fold the seats down there is not a lot more room than the access cab. Although there is room for 2 small adults in the back.

Absolutely. The in laws truck is a pain to sit in the back. He ripped out his seats though for some goodies he installed.

Stock 1st gen rims with cooper St/maxx. Been extremely happy with this setup. Awesome tire in the snow. Packed, deep, wet no problem. Was using a mud tire before, Goodyear kevlars and after the ice storm we had I switched. Coming from that tire the coopers have been awesome. An all terrain tire and 4x4 goes pretty far though regardless of what you get.

I am using stock 1st gen rims as well, but have BFG All-Terrain T/A. But I think I goofed last year when I bought a set of Nokian Rotiiva AT's and put them on as a summer set, should have really been the winters instead of the BFG's.

17" oem steelies for me. Wrapped in 285/70/17 Toyo ATII for winter and for wheeling adventures. I am in love with this newer Toyo design. In snow and slush I have no issues. I have an 07 FJ so I can't turn traction control. There is a hack but I have never done it. That being said the computer has saved my bacon atleast 6 times in 8 winters. Hate it at a slippery stop sign.....But love that beeping noise at 60mph on black ice. It is like magic.

Summers it's stock alloys with 285 LTX Michelins. I doubt I will ever wear those out. They run forever but I am not overly fond of them in snow. Great when they are new but after 50K km they have a tendency to smooth out on the shoulders. Oddly enough though they have never hydroplaned on me in heavy rain.

Nokians are like the ultimate snow tire. But as I recall their super soft compound will burn up really quick on dry hot pavement. The big claim to fame is that they don't harden like many tires in extreme cold. I know people that swear by them here in the Northeast

They are made with natural rubber instead of the petroleum based rubber, that is why they are softer.
