I've been researching replacing my factory head unit in my 2017 SR5. It's basically between an major brand like Kenwood or Alpine, and the android tablets (essentially). I noticed that the key differences between the two for linking the new head units to the factory steering wheel controls are the CANBUS (for the android units) and the iDatalink Maestro's (for the name brand units).
I've noticed that both options tend to lose the function of HD radio. I was just curious as to which of the options integrates better to the stock features. I've read accounts of both having quirks (iDatalink not properly converting the seek track functions from the steering wheel, and the CANBUS options losing other functionality).
So, to get to the point, besides the significantly cheaper price range of the Chinese android tablet options, and the larger screens offered compared to the 9" tablets, is there any other reason to consider a name brand with the iDatalink Maestro?
