    I came to say this.

Also, don't mess with the CANBUS. You'll summon demons directly into your wiring.

I know this is an old post, but nobody said not to mess with it.

It's all microcontrollers and programming at that level. Mess up one "if-then" and the whole chain gets f'd.

Mess up something with the gauge cluster? ABS goes haywire. Wrong signal from a random sensor? Truck won't start.

There's something to be said about equal high levels of control and ability to get f'd up hard.

I'm curious about this as id like some vehicle data to dispaly on the headunit. Has anyone found a canbus adapter that runs on a generic android head unit and just displays data you ask it for. Ie , live coolant temp , fuel consumption, oil temp etc. I see my andoird unit has a cnabus space at the back for soemthing ti plug in and have seen a friends vw setup to show data etc a few years back.

I purchased an UltraGauge and use it to display the info I want to see. https://ultra-gauge.com/ultragauge/index.htm

I have it secured to the dash so that at a glance I can see my actual coolant temp, battery voltage and fuel trims. I haven't checked, but I'm sure there's lots of threads on here telling you how great it is and/or how much it sucks. :)

I think i may actually go this route and then install a single 2inch pul pressure guage as the main things I'm interested in are real time coolant temp and oil pressure. I was hoping there was another way to measure this without having something plugged into my obdii port but ibe been searching and it seems ondii is the way to go if I don't want to fit a secondary ecosystem, although I may still do go down the line.

I bought the ultra guage and hopefully it arrives soon , that website didn't instil much confidence i must say.
Seems to tick the right boxes for the money and hopefully fits nicely in that compartment for the garage door opener / outside temp area as that's where I plan on mounting it

My ultragauge arrived today , I'll find a way to neatly mount it in here and remove that flap so it's visible but out of the way.

    Yup.
Awhile back I added a few too many mods to my 2011 and recently used the OBD module (for shits and giggles) and it shows a a few sensor issues discussed earlier in this post, including brake module, ABS, air bag, steering angle, yaw rate, etc. and the fixes say, repair CAN-BUS wiring and connections. I have no check engine or any other lights that are on and truck behaves just fine. However! My keyless entry quit working awhile back and after a lengthy Rabbit hole I went down, I gave up on it. So now I gotta do the old school way of using the key to unlock the door. So, like Drew said... "F" it ! I'm just gonna keep on keeping on, till my $2,000 Goodyear's fall off!
