I have brought a stock second gen long bed through with out anything. Including the washout at the end. Taking it slow makes all the difference.

I should say though, this being the first run of the year I don’t know what the trail is going to be like. If we stick to the south trail it shouldn’t be too bad at all.

Hey Peter, put me down for that as well. I need to arrive Saturday morning though, if that’s not a problem.

SO i should say this, as i feel like there was a bit of a mixup when i asked if you wanted to go into a noobie run vs this Ardbeg trip is that, the two are entirely different trips.

the one i mentioned is the one @cwisema has planned, which is meant to be a mostly gravel road i assume trip with a group of other tacomas and jeeps.

where as this trip is on a completely separate level

    :annoyed:

i just want to make sure who know that these two are different are you're fine with going to Ardbeg and the trails it holds

i figured i'd get it out of the way because she shot a like at the one comment i made about Cwisema's trip and then a minute later commented here so it freaked me out for a second

Good to know it was a misunderstanding then.

Thanks shveet, for looking out for me, yeah, I got it. I’ve never been to Ardberg, so in that sense I am a noob, but I’ve driven lots of 4x4’s in some pretty wild places in Canada, from NW Ontario to the Yukon. My only question, and one we won’t know the answer to until closer to the date, is whether May 1 is too early for Ardberg. Maybe you guys who have been up there know the answer to that, but depending on the amount of rain in April it might be pretty wet up there. We want to tread lightly and not make a mess, right?
My 4 Runner has a stock suspension at the moment, and stock size KO2’s. It’s an off road with a rear locker, and I have a Warn 10s winch. I know how to recover stuck vehicles.

I thought of using a winch mount on my 4 Runner, there are a lot of advantages to them, for sure. In the end, I bought a bumper and mounted it permanently. A winch is just too heavy to slug around to make it very practical for temporary mounting systems for me, anyway. But, hey, if you’re a young, fit, weight lifter type, who can press that weight with ease, it’s doable.

if that's the case then i won't bother with it.

since ripping off the SSO and "reverting it back to stock" with a large chunk of my OEM bumper cut off, the truck is much nicer to drive around. Really feel the difference with the weight change, and i kind of don't want to toss it back on. :|

Weight is truly a killer, but it sneaks up on you so easily. A roof rack here, a couple of bumpers there, some skids, we know the process. Steel too, so they’re rugged. Haha. For starters, I’m trying to stick to aluminum these days.
