Yeah and the most eaten “restaurant” is McDonald’s…. Doesn’t really mean much. You’ve just accepted your truck for what it is, i had a 2018 AT - the gear hunting was so bad i traded it in.

I was one that decided to purchase a 3rd Gen MT thinking the MT would not carry over to 4th Gen. I'm glad Toyota is keeping the MT alive (Save the Manuals). However, the MT was only one factor.

    Other factors...
    1. I will no longer buy the first year of a redesign
    2. Wanted less tech in a vehicle, if could help it.
    3. Didn't want electric power steering
    4. Didn't want a turbo
    5. Didn't want a huge screen radio/nav
    6. Inflation.
    7. 3rd gen is proven
    8. Solid aftermarket support.
I have no ragrets ;) and love my 3rd Gen.

BTW the OTT tune is magic for my MT.

Statistics would tend to disagree with your wishful thinking there.

I would usually agree not to get the first model year of a new platform...if it wasn't for my 2015 Mustang GT. I put a tough 90k miles on that car before I traded it for my 2020 Tacoma...redlined it at 8,000 rpm a few times (by accident), took it to Vegas twice in mid-summer heat and off-roaded it at Yellowstone. Not one problem with it. It was the 2nd most reliable car after my 1993 Toyota truck. I imagine Toyota would do a bit better all things considered.

You took the words right out of my mouth! Exactly the reason I pulled the trigger now on a M/T 3rd Gen.

Nah. I spent 15 months waiting on a Bronco before being told to kick rocks by Ford. I'm over waiting.

Work vehicles, sold my MT off road almost near the height of the market.

now that Toyota has announced a 4th gen manual transmission- I am no longer in a position of having to buy a 3rd gen before they “get rid of the manual” have time to wait and shop when the consumer has more of an edge.

I never understand when someone buys a truck they don't like thinks other people made a bad choice when they enjoy their trucks.

Yeah - it's the internet though, afterall. Someone could be completely happy with their truck and say "I'm happy with my truck" - and someone will be like "no, you're not. I had one and it sucked. You're wrong." Sometimes you just gotta move past and realize they're not worth your time.

I am not in the market currently, but I love me 2017 Turd Gen MT :D. Most liely will be a full-size next truck, but I have many years left in the 2017 at only ~78k mi, so I could chnage my mind in those years.

I wonder what % of those trucks need to be regeared/tuned due to mods than stock truck with gear hunting

Where exactly did I say the Tacoma was a bad truck? i was just pointing out some of the flaws- the Tacoma is a great truck- you can pretend like your Auto transmission doesn’t hunt, but you’re just not being realistic

Ya just like 2nd gen Tundra values went down, or 2nd gen Tacomas, cause they didnt. This is always someones argument / statement around here with a new gen.

You think a manual all new 4th gen is gonna be more consumer friendly? They will be going for ADM / MSRP for a while.
