Highly doubtful, once Toyota gets back to full production the discounts will be coming- just like every manufacturer.

Was excited for a new Tundra and considering one when they dropped despite how ugly they are, been following those pages and groups and holy crap QC by Toyota standards and problems, now 2 years in, and I was a 3rd gen test guinea pig back in Fall of 2015. Not even the same issues, someone has an engine failure weekly in the FB group, some waiting months on parts with loaners, not to mention the leaking sunroofs, wind noise from windows not on tracks properly, seat trim breaking, and the list goes on.

After my experience with the 22 Tundra I’m never buying a first year model of anything. I’ve known this my whole life but thought I could squeak by with Toyota ….. nope. I wouldn’t buy the 24 taco not for a min of 3 years. Am curious to see how the roll out goes though.

It’s always been that way, I remember buying a 2018- they couldn’t unload the manuals.
This is a Toyota Tacoma, not a limited edition X vehicle.

Many consider 1st year models after a redesign to be garbage based on lots of anecdotal evidence, but let us look at the history of problems recognized by Toyota through TSBs (based on my memory, scientific, I know) for the 2016 model year.

    -Trans Low Fluid
    -Trip Reset
    -Leaking 3rd Brake lights
    -Door seal howl
    -Timing cover leak
    -CPS failure
    -Rear diff leak
    -Shift Flare
    -Engine noise
    -And of course, those floormats!

Not really any catastrophic issues. Toyota is not know to release an updated model that will cause the end user never ending problems.

Every other manufacturer is catching up and offering discounts as we speak. You’re claiming the one and only thing exclusive toyota won’t? The exclusive toyota tacoma all the sudden lol

Toyota has never offered big discounts, Toyota was more purposeful with their production and did not over produce and then have excess supply unlike GM and Ford, F150 is going through a refresh, etc. You can't compare Toyota, a high demand model now redesigned and a market that has become used to decreased supply and ADMs.

I would not put too much hope in economic recovery or "everything will be back to normal soon" at this time. Non-propaganda economic indicators say otherwise.

This was prior to covid production and supply issues, this is also accounting for not really an all new truck, new sheetmetal and design pieces but carried over engine and 2nd gen bones. The 4th gen is all new, all new platform, all of it. Go take a look at the Tundra FB groups and forums, they have some minor things but a good amount of catastrophic as well.

If GM, Ford, or Ram had those issues everyone would say it’s a lemon.

Missing the whistling lower control arms (they fixed with rubber grommets, lol), passenger side door speaker cover that squeaked / rubbed crazy due to poor fitment, trying to remember what else my freshie 2016 went in for.

Overall statistics tend to disagree. You can generally go to places like carcomplaints.com and the first model year (and the second to an extent) always have the most complaints.

JD Power gave the 2015 Mustang a 2/5 for reliability. There's always exceptions though, both good and bad, no matter how reliable a vehicle is rated.

My Tacoma is technically a 2nd year model, but was built in 2016. It's currently in the shop for a timing cover leak. They also found the head gaskets and water pump leaking. Luckily my extended warranty is about 9k from expiring. But I know the 2016 and 2017 models were known for these issues... especially the timing cover.

I wouldn't mind one of the new Tundras, but they're still too new for my liking and a few have had issues caused by the turbos already.

Other manufacturers are still charging huge markups and can't sell anything. My local Toyota dealership also sells Chevy vehicles next door. The Chevy lot is full while the Toyota lot is maybe half full and a lot of the vehicles are already sold still. From what I've seen in videos, Toyota is one of the only ones still able to sell regularly because they're charging fewer dealership markups than other brands.

    I’ve gotten quoted recently $15,000 off a $54,000 RAM 1500.
That same truck was MSRP last year. Toyota is offering $2,000 off TRD off roads in a lot of areas as well. Just have to shop. The discounts for Toyotas will pick up again as well, this is a volume game - always has been. Every vehicle toyota doesn’t have available on their lot, is potentially another sale for a different brand. Less service on said vehicles as well, less money for Toyota financial, less money for dealers.

It shifts automatically because it's an automatic transmission.

All automatic transmissions "hunt" to select what it considers the right gear and depending on the speed and load, might toggle between gears. If you want to remove the choice use S mode to remove a gear you don't want the transmission to select.

You have the problem with how the AT shifts, many of us don't.

If the AT were so bad, why is the resale and demand for new trucks still so high?
