These trucks are unfortunately really susceptible to rock chips. I always slow waaaaay down if there is a semi up ahead and just stay as far away from that shit as possible. Still I had two on my hood happen in a relatively short amount of time, which I've since patched but it still pisses me off. I used to have a 90s F150, that thing was impervious to chips, the taco is just much more sensitive truck I guess. I dont think any Warrenty would cover them tho.

Yup :( the same day that I was driving my brand new truck off the lot and back home, I tried to leave the construction zone as quickly as possible and to not follow too close behind any of the construction vehicles on my way home either and it still happened. There wasnt any other road that I could take to avoid the construction zone either and the construction was on like 30%-40% of my drive back home with dirt, pebbles, stones, etc all over the road and barricades everywhere.

Yeah I could get it fixed with my auto insurance company since I have a full coverage but then it would show up on the vehicles history report so I prefer to pay out of pocket instead to fix the rock chips. Some people suggested that I get some kit like Dr Touchup and fix it myself but I dont think that it would come out as good as if a body shop fixed the rock chips professionally and I prefer to have it done by a professional since its a brand new truck. After I get the rock chips fixed im planning on getting the truck wrapped in paint protection film to protect it against getting more rock chips in the future. Sadly all the Japanese vehicles have a reputation for having softer paint than the American vehicles but I guess thats something that we have to live with in exchange for better engine reliability.

The funny thing too is that the truck I purchased is the "Off-Road" edition, I imagine that this trucks paint would get all messed up with dimples everywhere if I took it off roading without paint protection film.

I cant see paying the service plan, that's a rip off. That said, I did pay $1600 for TEN year platinum 0 deductible that didn't start until after my 1 year CPO. I thinks that's the first warranty I purchase on anything in 20 years but I figured at less then 0.43 per day, it would only take one electronic service or fix to pay for itself.

Wifes 2017 Carolla IM has 19,000 miles on it. She has the platinum plan. 10 years/100,000 miles. It cost 2200 bucks. She recently retired and usually puts 20 to 30 miles a month on her car. Since she is no longer driving to work , i believe i should cancel. I was an over the road truck driver when we bought it and i wanted her to be covered. Hell , they won't even cover the small paint chips on the blizzard white. What y'all think

20-30 miles a month? As in less than 1 mile a day? If that were the case, I’d personally just sell the car and either get rid of a car loan or put some money back in my pocket. Doesn’t seem like much of a need for a car at all. And if absolutely necessary, a dirt cheap used car for $2k would suffice. I’d cancel and sell it, but that’s just me.

Wow. Thats crazy. I normally decline all extended warranties and maint. plans. Only reason I did it on our Infiniti is because it was a whopping $12/mo. I dont have to pay for anything on this car for 4 years except gas and wear items.

I paid cash when it was brand new. We only drive it once in awhile. Guess my son can have it if something happens to us.

    WAY TOO MANY
I know the feeling OP. The finance guy just kept going and going with the sales pitch that I finally caved and took it. I was so disappointed in myself for letting this clown get over on me. One of the best days of my life was going back to dealership and getting the piece of paper with confirmation of cancellation. Needless to say the finance guy was not happy since it was 2 weeks later and I am sure he had already spent whatever commission was made. He tried telling me that he would do it later and I said I would wait. Then he said the printer was down so I told him to email it to me while I wait. Do not leave without the confirmation and follow up with bank to make sure $ was removed from loan.

    $4100 is stupid expensive.
I paid $1,250 for my 8 year 125k warranty, it’s pretty ridiculous how much these dealerships mark up the pricing on these things. It’s malicious and unethical. Cancel it and save the money instead for a rainy day, or be financially responsible like most of us and spend it on mods :D

    Holy shit you got fucked

I paid $1200 for 10yr/100k extended toyota warranty and i bought it over the phone from an out of state dealer based on a tip from somebody here on tacomaworld.

That said, i think the $1200 was well spent, so I say cancel your warranty ASAP, they will fully refund you minus a small cancellation charge, then try and get a deal like this

Cancel it. I also got the platinum care... but for $1200. I told them I wanted the service but I didn’t want to pay the full price. This went on for like 5 minutes and they caved first so I didn’t have to walk away from the whole deal. I was ready to walkout on everything is my only advice.

I would cancel both. If something usually goes wrong with a new vehicle it's within the first 3 years which is covered by Toyota. Hell, you have a 5 year powertrain warranty from Toyota too.

For reference, on my 2019, I paid $1,000 for prepaid maintenance. Premium level for 5 years/75,000 miles. If you tell them you are cancelling they might discount it to make it worth it for you. But if you really don't care for it just cancel.

I would factor in your labor rate to get the real apples to apples comparison.

Mind IM'ing me the dealer you bought it from?

I'm looking at getting that warranty for my 2019 before the current one expires.

I crawl under there for oil and tires for about an hour every 5k miles. Another hour or so for the 30k mile service. Maybe 8 hours total of my time. But that’s where I save time and hassle compared to taking it to a dealer

I agree if you tell them you want to cancel they will lower the price if you can get it for 1200 dollars like someone is saying then I think it’s worth it in my opinion
