I can Pair the new iPhone XS no problem. Contacts transfered, voice activated calls, no problem. It will not move Messages from the phone to the vehicle. Any ideas?

some of this, a little of that
if you go into the Bluetooth on the phone and pull up the pairing to the truck make sure the button for pushing notifications is on.

Mine was somewhat random, but since I got a new phone (Android), it seems much more consistent. Although, I don't use it much. A few times per month.

Even if you applied all the OTA updates, have you done this one:
    https://securedp.toyota.com/download-app/getHeadUnits

You'll see a September 2017 version date, but it may still be newer than your actual firmware.

I'd rather a hole in my head than any crap made by apple. I once helped somebody work out an HFP issue between a dev board and an apple phone -- we hadn't implemented 16k audio support on the dev board yet. Turned out that the apple phone acknowledged and accepted the 8k sample rate, but still dumped out at 16k.

At the end of the day, apple is NOT a technology company at all. They're a fashion company.

Yep...it’s an Apple issue. They don’t support whatever protocol allows this function to work consistently.

I’ll try the update and verify the Bluetooth options are correct.

On the iPhone, wife’s kids got them, wife got one, just keeps peace in the house. I especially like their arrogant pricing program.

    Thanks for the ideas., Jim

IOS 12.1.2 on iPhone 7 Plus works fine... check after updating (disregard Apple haters, they’re just jealous). I know, I know... shots fired

Let us know how it works out. It is easy to do, just follow the instructions but takes few moments.

My whole fam and all but a couple friends are on iOS. I'm on an island. :crapstorm:

I've toned down my hate because after years of BBs, Samsungs, and Pixels, I have not managed to convince a single soul. Also, both OSs are getting really close in terms of looks, function, and operability. I can almost use one of the kids' phones and not feel like I need to pitch it at the wall. The locked nature of iTunes and the ecosystem, though . . .

Updated software, no problem, verified Bluetooth settings on connected/paired (12.1.2) phone were correct, no go!

    Well that sucks!

Did you try deleting and adding your phone in the head unit after the update?

Courious about your issue... are you expecting all previous messages to be transfer? That’s not happening with my system, I just receive new messages on entune while I’m in the truck.

Did you delete the Toyota Tacoma connection in the phone BT settings?

Maybe also re-install the Entune App?

Negative on deleting the Tacoma in phone settings. I’m making dinner now, try later.

Thanks again for all the help.

Stay tuned, I’ll post results later tonight.

    Driving me nuts, should work...

    Glad you figured it out.
    Side note:duel:
It’s common to see android fanbois talk shit about Apple/iOS, but not vice versa.
Btw I used to be android fanboy starting with G1, after rooting and flashing nightly builds, having the unreliability of Android I got fed up. Android is the least intuitive system out there and their optimization sucks imo

I went from Flip-phone (no camera, defense worker) to a iPhone 5S. Big adjustment but I loved it. Last week I finally upgraded to a XS. Beautiful piece of technology. I just wish the damn things were about half the cost.

    Sweet! What did it?

Sorry, but that is not true. There is catching and receiving coming from both sides.
