When I try to lock my truck with the keyless entry or with the key fob while there is a door still open, it doesn’t lock and instead gives a 3 second long sound to let me know I suck.

Can this be turned off? My wife takes 5 years to get out and shut her door. I’d rather be able to just lock it while I’m walking into the store without her.

Just hit lock on the inside of the door panel after the doors that need to be open are open ...It automatically arms the alarm silently. Then close the door. If you don't believe me roll down the driver window first and reach in and pull the handle.

Normal, drives me crazy because it takes my wife forever to get the hell out of our toyotas.

I've checked in techstreams, no option to turn off.

That is why I love this feature. The lady hates the sound more than I do. I actually have the entire beep noise to the lowest volume on my truck, with her rav 4 I hit it immediately when I get out so she's quick to follow.

Just tell her to "shut the fukken door already"...

    Problem solved..... with the truck

New problems will be present soon enough.

Your radio is different with an OR.

Yell at the wife instead, only takes one time.

I thought it was just my wife that does this...now that I found out I am not alone in this, is this a wife/SO thing? I usually just toss her the keys and tell her to lock it when she is (finally) out of the truck.

You guys should just press the panic button while she's in there and walk away.

    Go ahead.

If you hit the lock on the fob when a door is open you get one long beep. I tell the passenger (usually the wife) to "shut the fukken door" at the top of my lungs.

Once they do I hit the fob again and the truck locks like it's suppose to.

Then into the hardware store or bar I go.

Do what I do, dare ya!

Its really not necessary for the truck to continuously beep until you shut the doors though. I've hated this since day 1 of owning this truck but it doesn't happen enough for it to be a true annoyance. I shouldn't have to wait for her to get out of the truck and shut the door before I can lock the truck. I usually just use the keyless lock on the driver's side door handle. I guess its a 1st world problem, spending a couple extra second waiting for someone to get out of a truck.

It’s weird that a different radio would mean not having a setting like that.

What are your wives doing inside YOUR taco? The reason you bought a truck is to have an open bed/cargo area. That is HER place.

Not sure if it's because I have a manual, but I can hit lock while a door is open (I do it every day with wife/ kids in tow). Once the last door is shut, it will beep and lock all doors. This is one of the things I really like about the truck.
