    I currently have 3 way components on a 4x125w RMS amp with a sealed 10w3 on a 500w amp.

I feel like there is a gap in the base between the 6x9 and the sealed 10. Should I ditch the 10, for an 8? Should I go with a ported box and try to tune for the missing frequency? Should I do a 8 and a 10?

For what it's worth, this is in a double cab.

I really like the JL 8's in a ported box. This is a W1 on 150w rms, but it's got really clean sound quality. Probably not enough for your 125w three ways though.

I just ordered the stealthbox, but I'm second guessing it. :notsure:

Honestly, sounds more like a X-over problem than a speaker problem. What are your crossovers set at on the amps/headunit?

If there is a hole in your low end it’s not a consequence of the speaker/sub sizes you have selected.

What is your source unit? The new OEM head unit sounds like it has a hole right about where the bass guitar lives and it’s a difficult fix.

Could also be your HP/LP settings, cancellation, or a phase issue.

Off the top of my head I don't remember the exact settings. I can say I spent hours trying to get it set to what I feel sounds the best.

I'm using no crossover from the head unit and instead using the KickerIQ crossovers and EQ on each of the amps. The options I have are,

AMPS 1 and 2: Variable High Pass and Low Pass 10Hz–20,000Hz
    Adjustable Butterworth slope : OFF, 6, 12, 18 or 24dB/octave
    Adjustable Linkwitz-Riley slope : OFF, 6 or 12dB/Octave

What are they se to? For ease of setup, I’d set the sub to “LP” at 80Hz, and 6x9s to “HP” at 80Hz as well. @dolbytone makes a great point, it could be a phase issue as well. Swap the “+” and”-“ speaker leads to the sub and try it that way. Out of phase may sound hollow and distant.

Personally, I prefer to set my x-overs on the headunit, really for ease of fine-tuning, and using the amp x-overs as “hard” backups.

By default I like to use 80Hz Linkswitz-Riley 12dB/oct for HP and LP. If I deviate from that, it’s for a reason like speaker limitations.

@ZMan2k2 @dolbytone after reading your posts about the crossover I decided to go over the settings again instead of trying tonchange the speaker. It turns out that changing the EQ on the sub for 50 and 63Hz needed to be reduced. 5dB down on each and it sounds fantastic!
