How long has it been since you bought it and was any of this disclosed in the description and lastly, how did you pay? If you just bought it and none of the frame repairs were disclosed I would try opening a case with EBay

I did a cab swap on an f250 super duty last winter that was super rusted out.. it also had some cracked I forget what's on part of the transmission but it needed some welding and cutting of newer parts to fit. We also had to pull a lot of the interior stuff out of the cab like trim and weather stripping and move them. What's the chance you could find some Tacoma people and make a day out of it for beer and pizzas..

I know a frame is more in depth than a cab but if it saves $15k..... Is it worth considering

Those welds and that black gunk all over the frame looks suspect to me.

Can you share the pictures you looked at when you purchased the truck?

As mention, how long since you bought the truck? The seller did not fully disclose the frame condition, which will grant you a case with paypal/ebay.

End of the day lesson, AVOID BUYING CARS WITHOUT SEEING IT IN PERSON!

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
$1500 for the frame, $15k for the job.

Not saying anything about frame repair is just plain wrong. Hopefully you just bought this. Talk to eBay to see if they'll help out. Hopefully this works out right for you. Fingers crossed!

I bought the truck a year ago.
I called eBay who informed me that there is no buyer protection for a vehicle over 15 years old.
I told them the company didn’t disclose any problems to me.
I tried calling the seller back who go by “used car sales” but they won’t answer.
I looked them up. They are a shell company for a different company that has like a hundred better business bureau complaints against it. I called eBay back and told them they shouldn’t allow fraudulent companies to advertise on their site.
    But, that’s where it ended.

I am pretty sure the guy from Toyota quoted me $15,000 for a new frame. That doesn’t include them doing the job and he warned me that they more than likely will run into further problems.
Trust me, I will never buy anything from eBay again without seeing the item first.
I am pretty handy but don’t think I could handle replacing the frame myself even if I could find one.
But, I would pay someone to do it if I could find a good frame for a reasonable price. I mean $15,000? I would have bought a new truck if I wanted to spend that kind of money.
This stupid state sprays salt brine down like crazy. A new truck would rust out in no time.
Who can afford to throw $60,000 on a new truck and end up with a rust bucket in six years? Then they pass a law saying you can’t weld the frame! I never knew until I found myself in this situation.
If any of you kind people know where I can get a frame I would finally be able to sleep at night.

    That s#ck big time.

Depending on how much you paid for the truck, it might not be worth it to pay a mechanic to frame swap. Might be best to part it out or sell it complete as a parts truck to the highest bidder.

For 15k, you can buy a clean one from CA.

So you bought the truck a year ago and have been sitting on it? The time to pursue legal repercussions against the seller was ASAP after purchase.

Might want to consider selling this truck, recouping whatever you can get. Don’t lie about the frame, but don’t get all wordy either in the ad.

Don't want to be that guy but I guess I'll be that guy. You were happy enough to use the truck for a year. Now that you can't register it, your not happy? You didn't noticed the damn issue the first 10 minutes of inspecting the vehicle when you received it?

Frame cost is ~3k. Few grand in other parts required.. 60 hrs labor was the warranty time on the replacements. It’s a BIG bill. The new frames are also NLA. I just bought the last 4wd extended cab one. No double cab ones available either now

No I didn’t buy the truck and sit on it happily.
There was no legal recourse, what was I going to do? Hire a lawyer who might not even be able to find these people?
The first guy I took to put a sticker on it.
He was some sort of crackhead who is no longer in business. Wonder why…
When I brought it to my usual straight shooter mechanic he informed me of the law.

What part of VT are you in? Guy I work with has the frame welded on his 3/4 Chevy and it hasn't caused issues with inspection.

Definitely a shitty situation, I bought my 03 about 6 weeks ago and was fortunate that the previous owner had gotten the frame replaced. Just sprayed it with woolwax today actually.

    I live in Rutland county.
I love the truck and would really like to keep it.
    I can’t drive without a sticker though.
The state police are back out looking for that sort of thing.
Trust me, I would do anything to make sure it is safe to drive.
I just want to be legal and not get someone in trouble.

Realistically your looking at about $3300 just for the frame not including ship...

Doner truck........if your lucky $1500.....even junk is over price these days....

And because you have to have multiple lifts......$6k is about cheapest if you can find a buddy deal on the labor side....
    Find a retired Toyota mechanic......

Here's the official instructions from the horses mouth....step by step....

Your best option is to sell truck to someone out of state.....
    and then purchase something viable...

bet someone on fake book could set u up with a sticker'....
