    Aluminum on a fuel filter ?

    I never used anything but copper .

    You installed 2 washer per Banjo Bolt both sides of the fitting?

    Every thing was cleaned before being assembled real well?

    It only takes a tiny piece of dirt to leak.

    What brand filter there are some of very poor quality being sold.

    Now that is interesting because The 3.4 does not use banjo fittings but Flare fittings on the fuel filter.

    Has your filter been changed from the stock filter?

    Flare fittings do not use crush washers.

    @Grabo

    I dont think you need to use washers at all. The fittings both side of the fuel filters are B-Nut style which dont require washers. Also, do not use any pipe tape on the threads either. But give me a a few minutes, Im digging into my 1st Gen info to get some info on replacing the fuel filter. to verify this.

    tape is never a good idea with fuel injection.

    if Autozone gave you the correct filter for your 3.4 you do not use washers!!

    Using washers would cause your leak!

    @Grabo I found some info that should help you with the filter replacement.

    The fuel filter connections are flared fittings. They do not require any gaskets, washers, or orings. Using any of these would cause the fittings to leak. Also, using pipe tape on the threads would also cause the fittings to leak. The factory service manual states to use a light coat of oil on the threads when you install the fittings. I attached a screen shot of that information below. I have replaced several fuel filters on 1st Gen V6 Tacomas and it does take a few tries to get the fittings to seat properly so they will not leak. You also need to inspect the ends of the flared fuel tubing to make sure there on no small cracks that will cause them to leak.

    Here are some how to guides for replacing the fuel filter;

    I replaced the fuel filter on my 1st gen before selling it, and let me tell you i had to tighten the absolute shit out of it before it stopped dripping. Like an insane amount of force.

    It only takes a tiny burr or piece of grit on the flare to cause a leak .

    The nut can bottom out before the flare seals.

    Poor quality boot leg filters floating around.

    Then the OP never returns!

    There shouldn't be any crush washers for a 3.4 v6. Here's a photo of what you should be looking at, and a step-by-step guide that details the process of replacement (and the correct part number to replace the old one):

    How-to: Replace the Fuel Filter in a 96-04 Tacoma

    Fuel fiter itself: 23300-62010
