I just found this out the hard way. I had the "euro style" one break off leaving the threads in the antenna base when trying to unscrew it. I've got a new assembly with OEM antenna coming from camelback. Should be here tomorrow. I did notice when putting that particular antenna onto the truck there was a fairly decent gap between the base and the mast where it did not sit flush, but didn't think of it rusting out. I ordered their billet style one to give that a shot and if it does not sit flush I'll probably just use the OEM one or use some dielectric grease and wrap with heat shrink tubing.

I had the same issue on my truck with there being a piece of an old antenna broken off and stuck in the base. I just used a drill with an easy out to extract that broken piece from the base, took me about ten minutes and cost me nothing.

hmm. I'll have to try that. If it works I'll just save the base I ordered for if I ever do need it; if it doesn't, I'll just replace. Thanks for the suggestion.
