Life has dealt me a new hand of cards.
    Time for an SUV

Help me figure out what my truck is worth. I am not looking to sell it here, If you are interested, I will tell you where it ends up based on the 2 choices I have to pick from.

    The Truck:

2013 Tacoma TRD off road Access Cab
    Mag Grey
Pelfrey Built Front bumper and rock guard
    TRD super charger
    TRD cat back
    10,000 miles
    9 out of 10 condition

    The Options:

#1 Sell it to a dealer for $29,500

#2 I have a good friend who owns multiple car dealerships> He will sell it on his lot and all I have to pay is the commission to the sales man.

Please tell me what you think this truck would sell for. It is a lot of work to sell a car on a lot, I don't want to put out a friend to make a few hundred bucks.

    Thanks for you input.

    Some stuff here and there....
Start by parting it out. You will end up with more cash because the dealership wont give you as much as you have put in. sorry to hear you are getting rid of a good truck. But hey new hands of cards are dealt all the time. JUST DONT BUY A FORD! OR A MINI VAN.

Depends on how much trouble you want to go thru.

If you have lots of free time on the weekends, you could do what ^ suggested and strip it back to stock (provided you have the parts?). Then the $29, 500 plus a couple grand will get you back towards what you paid, maybe even recover some sales tax?

But then you still have to craigslist the parts or find someone willing to pay to ship it, pick up, or deliver it halfway down some snowy highway to The Last Stop Combo: Your Local Name in Fuel and Survival Gear for a cash/parts swap with a shady character you know only as Sideburns_Bob_1972.

I think $29500 on a 10k access cab is pretty good though. I paid $31110 for a '14 double TRD OR with entune+nav, so if I had to unload an access cab...well, you're just a couple grand shy of an equivalent four door in the eyes of a dealer.

If you have the time, recoup what you can, but I don't think anyone is going to actually pay more for a used Taco with nice upgrades versus a brand new one.

    Your mileage will vary!

First thing I'd do is replace the Pelfrey bumper with the stock unit...

If you can get 29.5 from a dealer, take it and run. And repost here. I would be surprised if a dealer will pay you that much. But good luck!

    +1

While the truck is really worth 10k more than that with the low miles and options, you are going to have a hard time getting more than 29k for it.

How do you figure the truck to be worth 40K? Thats several grand more than it would be new....

His has the factory TRD supercharger & cat-back...

That's about $5000 on top of the list price.

On a 30K truck. Still 5K short of 40, and its not taking into account the truck being used. The S/C adding value to the truck is debatable. It limits resale market, as a general rule mods do not increase your trucks value.

OP would be best served pulling what he can from the truck and then selling it. Thats the only way to even come close to recuperating the loss in value.

I can't imagine what some of you paid for your trucks if you think 40K is reasonable for a 30K truck with some (although really nice) upgrades and 10k miles...

    He didn't indicate, I was assuming 4x4.
    Ya, the prerunner is $30k.

And while I agree that in general mods do not increase value, factory mods such as the TRD-SC will.

My point stands... if he can get $29k for it from the dealer, he should jump on it.
Selling it through his friend's lot less commission is not going to get him close to $29k.

    Agreed.

Sticker Price on my truck (Didn't pay that btw). Add a S/C to the mix and you are getting damn close to hitting the $40k mark.
A Factory Installed / Produced S/C will raise the value of the truck.
