It actually goes a little deeper than that. The reality is that Toyota doesn't want you to helplessly stare at your keys in the front seat, while your infant is sitting in the rear seat rapidly becoming a crispy critter. As a side effect they also don't want you to blame Toyota for the medium-rare state of your infant.

I just did a Google search and landed here looking for an answer to this same questions OP had. I looked in the HU settings before I Googled and didn't find anything. Do you know the name of the exact setting that needs to be changed and how to find it? I'm not sure it exists.

Since you have a '17. It should be under 'Vehicle' button (or tab) which will show lock and lights options in the settings.

I saw that but didn't see an option to turn this feature on/off.

If a door is open on the truck and you go to lock it with the key fob, it just beeps incessantly until you press the unlock button on the fob or the door is shut, but it will not lock.

Every other car I've ever had, you can press the lock button on the key fob while a door is open (this typically happens when wife and/or kids are taking their time getting out of the car after you) and then you can put the fob in your pocket, help unload, and just shut the door and the car is locked.

I'm trying to get get it so I can press the lock button on the fob and the truck locks the doors instead of just makes a beeping noise and doesn't lock.

Oh.. you can't do that.. you lock it manually with the toggle on the door armrest if you are in the truck or lock it with a key if you are outside of the truck if you leave fob inside the truck.

You have to wait for others to get out and close all doors so you can lock it with fob. I understand other vehicles have that feature like you just mentioned.

    Read my post here.

Gotcha. That was my initial thought but have seen a couple people mention it can be changed under the vehicle's settings, but since I haven't been able to find it I was pretty sure it was not possible. Appreciate you taking the time to confirm my suspicions.

That is because '16 and '17 models have older version of entune. '18 and '19 models have 3.0.

Maybe 3.0 in the newer models ('20 and up) but not sure what they use for '24 models since they started using digital screen in dash.

Last I heard that they are no longer using the name "Entune" which discontinued in 2020.

Mine is not an “entune”. It has to do with CarPlay also no?

I guess they use "Toyota" as the name in all models since '20 which you have 'Toyota' app on your phone. I had Entune app but it was replaced with Toyota app.

    The Toyota app is pointless.
    Tacoma world needs an app.

    Yup about pointless part.

    I agree with TacomaWorld part.

Toyota do better than that. Maybe we will see if we get '24 models or newer and see if the app could be better since dash has been gone to digital.
