Soooo, being the big idiot that I seem to be I have managed to mess up my truck. I took off the door panel to run some speaker wire and when I was hooking everything back up I switched the cables going from the door handle to the door lock. I didn't realize my mistake until I had already shut the door and now I can't open it. Being that the door is shut I can't take off the panel to switch the cables back. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can open it again?

Are the inner door latch release handles a separate bezel on these? Usually they have a screw or two holding them on. Pop that off and manipulate the plastic retainers to completely release the handle assembly and then grab a pair of pliers and pull either one to release the latch mechanism. I doubt the whole door panel needs to be popped off.

Just saw this vid, looks like they're installed from underside. The main door panel looks like it needs to come of first, but not sure how that's gonna happen with a closed door.....

May have to do some damage or break parts of the door handle to get access and replace the inner handle assembly after.

You may be able to pop the belt molding (the strip on the outside of the truck) off and try to get to it from that side,if your window is up. :notsure:

Maybe use a slim-jim or coat hanger to jimmy the lock like you were breaking in? Watch you-tube on how to videos?

OP, how are you trying to open the door..?? From inside or outside..?? It should open manually from the inside unless you flipped the child "door lock" switch inadvertently..! Sounds odd that by switching wires, you can't open the door manually. Are these doors electrically operated..and not by a rod from the handle..??

I can't believe he reversed the rods either! They're usually unequal lengths and sometimes a plastic clip that orients upper and lower fastened to the sheet metal.

    Weirder stuff has happened though.

I see now... OP said he switched "CABLES"...and not electrical wires like I presumed..? so this truck uses a cable instead of a rod..??

OP... I just watched that video and see what you mean... not hard to mix them up.... Is it possible to remove the inside door handle and disconnect it's cable.... then PUSH on the cable to unlock the door...? If you hooked up the outside door handle, why not unlock the drro with that door handle..?? If all you was reverse them and they are connected...they should work in reverse... right..??

I really appreciate all the responses to my foolishness haha. This is what I get for working 16 hours then trying to do some 2am work on my truck.
