I live here and it makes sense to me. A lot of drivers in this state treat their cars like I probably do my Microwave oven; use it, then forget about it until the next time they need to use it. Suspending Registrations is the only way a lot of people would ever make the time to get a problem (or potential problem) taken care of. I've gotten the same recall/unable to renew registration notice for a Honda Motorcycle I used to own for a fuel pump recall on that bike.

Agree. The simple way is to maintain your Tacoma. Not like the recall snuck up on anyone.

Having just bought mine and scheduled the fix for this recall, I'm now worried the registration process (which is being handled by the selling company) might stall. I'll report back if anything bad happens.

Very simple. Call TFS and request a "lease buy out package". It's a set a documents that state how much you owe and other docs requiring signatures for lien transfer. Apply for a loan on Logix's website for the amount in the buyout package. If you're approved you'll get a DocuSign from Logix to sign and start the process. Then an agent will contact you and take care of everything. You can either do it all online or if you want it done quicker just schedule an appointment with someone at a local branch (if you have one) and go in and take care of it all in about an hour. If your registration is good for the next 90 days at least you don't have to worry about that, if not get it renewed before talking to Logix.

This was a must if the registration is expiring within 90 days it had to be renewed. They absolutely did not even entertain giving a loan on the car without registration, I tried.

Best thing you can do is get the recall done ASAP and make sure to get the signed certificate of completion from the dealer. If you're in SoCal go to Longo, they know what's up. If the seller has any issues renewing reg. then just give them a copy of the signed certificate. Keep in mind that I was in a major hurry because I was leaving the country so it's not that I couldn't renew my registration, they just wouldn't allow me to do it online so I had to mail them a check with snail mail and wait for them to mail me the registration card for confirmation instead of having a paid receipt immediately online. It doesn't seem like it was an issue to renew the registration if you mailed it in, another stupid CA thing I guess.

    Thanks for the details!

I use Logix for my checking, savings, mortgage and even credit card.

When the the time comes I will make an appointment with them at the branch.

If you bank with them the process will be even easier. If your lease is expiring in two months I suggest you get started ASAP. With the way things are now it's better to get a jump on things. Two months is going to go by quick.
