You will stop in less distance without ABS on snow , and ABS is not a mandatory system

Really? I think no you won't. I think it's a great system.

The World Rally Car guys took the ABS out of their cars because it made it too easy. The Formula One guys took the VSC out of the cars because it made it too easy.

YOU may be able to stop in less distance without ABS (and that's debatable), but 99.9% of people can't.

Hence why the World Rally guys took the ABS out of the cars so it was all on the driver, not a function of the electronics.

Yes , you can stop quicker without ABS

I don't know about WRC , and their use or lack of use of ABS but comparing the traction control in F1 to the VSC in the Tacoma is kind of a stretch

 

Furthermore to the WRC point , after some reading it appears the ABS removal was part of many regulation changes by the FIA ( the same governing body as F1 ) to help cut costs and not because ABS made it " too easy "

Similar cost cutting measures are being phased into F1

 

and im guessing the abs/vsc on million dollar race cars are a little different than our trucks

Teams participating in the WRC this year have had to make do with a number of regulation changes, many of which significantly limit high technology used in cars.
Loriaux told The INQUIRER that this 'back to basics' approach has been a good thing for the sport as it has put more onus on driver skill, helped to ensure that rallies are more exciting and helped to cut costs to attract more manufacturers.

The point I was trying to make is the technology helps make the driver better. You seem to think everybody is a seat-of-their pants badass like yourself, and it's not true.

 

Cost cutting allows for more teams on equal footing , keeping the costs managable for smaller teams , that keeps the teams more competetive , making the racing closer and less predictable


I disagree , lack of technological aids showcases the better driver while technological driving aids are meant to fill in for lack of driving skill

Never said I was a " seat of the pants badass" , I said ABS INCREASES stopping distances , especially on snow

 

technology helps? not all the time! look at toyota fly by wire gas pedals, yeah those worked great. took a long time to get that one right. now then, abs is good, just not in really slick conditions, IMO and the majorities opinion it appears.

yeah right, I almost had frost on my windows this morning, totally inconvenient! Contemplated throwing my ABS kill switch on the drive to work just in case.

i want that too. dont need it as bad as you so it will probably be a next summer mod. looking forward to your thread on it though
