So I know I might be a little ahead of myself, but I am currently finishing up my year tour in Iraq and these last couple months the thought of buying my first Tacoma is pretty much consuming any spare time I have on a computer. I have wanted a Tacoma since I first got into my friend's father's back in high school. As soon as I get back I will be putting 15k on the best used Tacoma 4X4 I can find. I have a lot of mods already in mind and cant wait to browse through these forums for some more great ideas from what looks to be a lot of experience! I look forward to asking lots of questions and heading some good advice from you guys(and gals if there are any).

For 15K you can pick up a real nice low-mileage 1st gen 4X4, and still probably have a little cash left over for your first mods. Good luck and thanks for your service! We're praying for you brother!

ADVICE: Be selective and take your time to make sure you get the best truck you can for the money. If you are willing to drive a bit to go look at potential vehicles, you will broaden your choices. Don't buy a truck sight unseen like from ebaY. Make sure you physically look at the vehicle and test drive it, to include putting into all ranges of 4 wheel drive. Also, there are a lot of good posts throughout the forum of things you should look for when buying a used taco. If this is your first 4X4, make sure you read up on driving in 4 wheel drive too. There are some simple rules to follow but will save you a headache and possible $$$ on repairs that could have been avoided. Best of luck in your search!
