So I parked my truck at the gym, I was the only car in this row, away from everyone. Some 18 year old in his mom's minivan backed into me. He did come into the gym and tell the manager and left his info. Waiting on the police report. Hopefully when the body shop enters it to carfax or whomever, they can put it was parked when hit. Just sucks!

Sucks man, especially when your parking somewhere and in your mind your thinking this is a good spot and a accident happens.

But you know what they say, " it could always be worse". Just try to look at it that way and it will help dealing with this headache.

    None....yet.
If the kid wasn't an honest, and RARE stand up dude, youd be much more pissed. Sure he sucks at driving, and its annoying....but at least its minor and you dont have to pay for it!

This sucks. I park away from everyone else too to prevent door dings. At least the kid was honest, but probably didn't want to get in trouble for a hit and run.

Kudos to the kid for doing the right thing (and to his parents for raising him that way). There's still hope for humanity.

Also, sorry that this happened OP. It'll get fixed up though.

Hey on the bright side, it looks like you can salvage the top corners of the bumper and get a high clearance one with the insurance money.

I guarantee that body shop will take a head gun, press the plastic back in place and then buff the paint. Y'all are freaking out and overblowing this.

no need for a police report... as long as he admits to his agent that he did it. get a claim number and fix it.

His card was expired (Geico), the cop was giving him time to get an electronic copy. I told the cop he did leave his info at the front desk. Not sure if he got a ticket.

Like others have said. Accidents happen. You have to give the kid a break. He at least has some integrity and honesty by leaving his contact information. This is why we all have insurance. Yes, it's a pain in the butt having to deal with insurance and repair shops. Having your truck out of service for a week to get that fixed is inconvenient. I know because my truck in a magnet and seen to get hit often.

I've been in 3 wrecks which none have been my fault. My one suggestion is NEVER do an agreement with the other driver that he'll pay for the repair. You'll get an estimate, he'll write you a check, then you're screwed when needing a rental during the repair and when the cost of the repair is double the estimate. You won't be able to go to his insurance after the repair. They won't pay. My last wreck came with an estimate and check from the other guys insurance for $1,024. The actual cost of repair was $2,230 plus $380 for a rental car. I never cashed the check. You hand it over to the repair shop after the job is done. The repair shop works with the insurance and rental car company and adds your check along with whatever else they need from the insurance company.

I dont offroad outside of dirt roads, but this is the very reason I am buying armor bumpers and sliders... though I wish a company made "mall rated" armor thats maybe a little thinner, doesnt have the winch mount or recovery points.

Kid was a man about it and did the right thing. Heck, if it were my truck I'd probably buy him lunch for being upfront about it. Sucks about the damage, but at least its minor.
