I made 4 that size & 1 a double. I had to make them kinda small so they'd be portable & fit in the elevator. Everyone loved them, I gotta make another by November so they can auction it off at an event we'll be having. Of course I won't see any of the money. Haha
That's ok it will go to charity.

 

gotta love the old reclaimed wood! we've done a few charity raffles with ours to help spread the word. we also make furniture and home décor. we live in the extreme heats of the desert tho, so we took a break during the summer from production. can't spend more than an hour in the shop without getting heat exhaustion

 

Yeah I bet it gets hot. You could always do a night shift. Haha
Our people just went to an annual cigar show/conversation in Vegas & had me make "art" for the booth. I don't have any pic but it was basically gears from the old cigar machines standing on edge with reclaimed wood bases. The smaller ones were on rods so they were elevated. I made like 12 of all different sizes, even welded like 3 small gears together with the teeth meshed.

 

for sure. I work 50-60hrs a week during my day job, so this mostly gets done on weekends lol

that's pretty legit tho! I've been asked to do signs, which are fairly easy to knock out, just not a huge profit there like the furniture. the wine racks I sell fairly cheap too.

 

It's funny, my supervisor always want to make these projects nice & new looking & I try to tell him that's not what's cool right now & that they want reclaimed, the older & more beat up the better. He says that's just stupid. He doesn't get it. Haha

 

that's why I prefer building the rustic style... if you make a mistake, you just play it off that it was intentional!

Haha yeah that's true. With the bars we did the tops nice, only because we didn't want anyone to get splinters or scratched. What a pain trying to keep crap out of the polyurethane. Would've been much easier if they were completely rustic. Lol

 

table tops I will usually plane and seal also. rustic is cool, but I like function also lol

but yes, keeping crap out of polyurethane sucks - as does staining

 

Well they wanted the top to be rustic too but I said y'all will have some unhappy people when they start getting splinters. Haha
Stain isn't as bad cause it usually gets a light sanding anyway.

 

Just got out of the health insurance meeting....Looks like rates are going way way way up!!!!

I'm even planning on getting life insurance

No but with enough use it would smooth out & it would have a natural sealant on it.
