Our rescue truck almost monster jammed a car going to a structure fire one night. Everybody pulling to the right and this car pulls from the right lane into the left. Good thing it was on 231 there was enough room to get over some.

I seriously hate people. Nobody knows how to zipper. Just today, freeway was locked. So I let at least 4 people is front of me so I figured this was enough to give me karma to keep on going at the land merge. NOPE!! this fucking asshole is about to ride the shoulder so he could also get in in front of me. I just threw me arms up and screamed " what do you want to do?? Hit me?? Just go on a fucking head you n word!!"

    I was not happy.

At the merge I always try to zipper, or if I see an opening even if it's far behind I'll get in with my blinker and wave thanks. Yes, I'll do without the 5 seconds I'll save pissing off the person to the side of me.

It's disks vs drums. Disks tend to do better in really wet scenarios. But really and truly, on the back - which does around 30% of your stopping when unloaded - it doesn't make that big of a difference.

I will say disks are a hell of a lot easier to service. I hate drum brake springs.

    You're so nice. Thank you.

I know I meant drums. But drums only need to be replaced like hundred thousand miles or more. Disks are highmauntabce. We had the Honda for 203000 miles, never had to replace the drums, replaced the hubs at 170 I think.

We have a road where the two lanes go down to one right after the stop light. I've often boxed the asshole that thinks they're in a bigger hurry than I am who pull up in the right lane thinking I'll let them in when there's no one behind me.

I guess I'm just not that nice.

If i was in the truck I probably would've run them off the road. In the Honda Fit people tend to not give me as much respect :/ i always try to be a curtious driver and I rarely get road rage but it genuinely upset me.

I didn't change my '93 Toyota PU rear brake shoes until it had over 150K on it. By then they were glazed and the wheel cylinders needed to be replaced. So I'm not sure how well they were actually working for the last tens of thousands of miles. The problem is that, unless you pull the drum (which usually requires loosening the brake adjuster through a tiny window on the backing plate) you can't tell what condition they're in. Unlike disks, which can be seen by just pulling the wheel.

Lol that's frowned upon. The old chief said back in the day he was going to a fire but a couple cars were blocking the road so he just pushed them out of the way with the engine they had at the time

    That's super informative!

I've always thought that you wait until you feel a violent vibration from your rear and that's when you need to replace the drums.

What happens btw? Do taxes pay for it? I've seen those pics online with a fire hose going through somebodies car that's parked in the red.

When sirens were loud and you better get off the road cause it was a possibility of getting moved out of the way lol

Two things I change out before they're gone: Tires and brakes. Both allow you to pull over to the side of the road and stop.

Guess it comes from riding motorcycles.

Depends on who's at fault. From what I've heard the car owner pays for their windows and that section of hose if its damaged lol

Well what it was for me was that the disks will always have you. I've never replaced the drums on any of my cars.
