So I texted his friends satellite phone and I'm not getting anything back. To add to this this is the last text from his real phone I got "we couldn't make it through the pass there's too much snow"

Should I panic or chill? It's been over two hours since last contact.

It is kind of hard to send a text message back from a sat phone too. At least you have Verizon so they don't charge you to send the message. Other carries will charge the one sending the message also.
