Gonna vent. Punch me in the nuts if it's whining.

Yesterday, wifey and boss lady were having a heart to heart. Wife told boss lady that I'm getting pretty discouraged that the raise I was promised 6mos ago has yet to happen, meanwhile folks are getting paid trips to Vegas, others are getting new vehicles, etc. Also let her know that I'm soon to start looking for new jobs.

So today is payday. Wife gets a $5k bonus. Five thousand. 2nd time this year. My first response was "are you fucking kidding me", shocked by the random $5k and awed by the fact that....and here's my point...

She's handing out more cash and I'm still without a raise. I'm very grateful for the funds, but motherfuck, where's my god damn raise.

 

Damn, all I got for ya. damn.

I feel ya man. I started looking after being promised a raise and not seeing one for 2 full years. I was very loyal to my old boss but not having any benefits and no raise; it was time to go.

It never hurts to start looking around.

 

That's exactly how I see it. I'm trying to convince myself that it's something else and I'm being a pessimist, but...

 

I kept telling her she needed to go to American, but shit. I think I need to instead.

 

Trust your gut. GTFO of there and go to greener pastures.

 

Could be a couple of thing going on. A big F/U or maybe the boss lady is giving you a raise through your wife. How many other employees are there doing a job similar to you at a similar rate? Boss lady could have her hands tied do to your co-workers. She may know you are worth more but doesn't have a good way to increase your pay.

I know my boss likes to give bonuses instead of raises. Easier to budget, easier to change in bad years, easier to keep amounts from employees.

 

1 fellow makes 2x what I do, the other makes about 50% more than I do.

Now, wife is seriously underpaid. Any other company, she'd be $80k, at least. And some benefits. This company is absolutely screwed if she leaves. So they need to keep her happy.

 

Sounds like you and the wife need to bail ship and find another work place. Getting screwed is one this but being screwed thats a entire different deal.
