Ok, so I took some temperature measurements at the sidewalls and checked the air in the the tires, I needed to add about 2 lbs since it's been cold and I haven't checked them in a couple thousand miles. Here's where I am..........

Before leaving this AM. Outside air temp was 34 degrees. Front tire Temp 31.5 degree, rear tire temp, 30.5 degrees.
PSI rear 36, PSI front 37 (I run 1 lb more in the front to compensate for the engine weight vs an empty bed).

1 hr 20 min drive to work. Outside temp 36 degrees. Front tire temp 46 degrees, rear tire temp 45 degree.
PSI rear 40, PSI front 41. (4 psi increase, which is what I average in the summer too)

So, outside temps rose only 2 degrees. Tire temps rose approx. 15 degrees, and the PSI rose 4 lbs.

Data was pointing to a 1 psi increase or decrease for every 10 degrees. 17 degrees (including air temp) would equate to only a 1.7 psi increase. I suppose there are a lot of different factors involved here though. I would assume, the tire is the biggest. Mine are load range E and after nearly 20k miles have only shed 2mm of tread. I drive like a nut too. I was pushing 80 and the psi on the display was still at 41/40. Road surfaces would play an important role too. Concrete is harder than asphalt. That might relate to some differences. Front end alignment would also have an impact. If you are not aligned properly that could play a role. But I think for a bunch of guys that just drive their trucks and not use them to explore Mars or transport WMDs it's safe to assume these findings, while average, are sufficient. I might test again when I leave tonight to go home since I have the thermometer with me.

I think my intermittent humming from what appears to be driver's side is in fact the needle bearing (or something axle assembly related). It goes away immediately after engaging 4WD.

I'm calling to report it just in case it's related to the new front Diff I had installed in December of last year.

It hadn't done it for 4 days and just did it while I was running an errand.....just threw it in 4WD while doing about 25 on a straight section. It's my understanding that it's not a serious problem, more of an annoyance, right?
