I went dry for 2 years once on a bet. I made nearly 1800 bucks. Not to mention what I saved not buying booze. I thought I was going to quit forever. Then I went to Mexico and the resort was all inclusive.

 

New boss slowly becoming a dick. His wife has Lymphoma and isn't doing well. I sympathize with them, but in no way am I responsible. Yet he has chosen to take out his frustrations on a couple of us here at work. Everyone else was either fired, quit, or so new they don't know anything. Just 2 of us that were here this time last year. So he depends on us. But, we're becoming targets of his frustration. Don't see this ending well for ANY of us. I'm retiring in August. May just pack up and leave a few months early. This used to be a fun place to work. Not so much now. With my health, I'm just not into putting up with someone else's ration of shit.

That said....In addition to the "normal pain", after rotating tires yesterday, new back and leg pain. Not advisable for ANYONE to pester me this morning. GET OFF MY LAWN....

And THAT is how MY day is going (so far)

 

I used to hammer down the liquor. Lots of bourbon and a good bit of Beer. One day I decided to quit. Just out of the blue....Didn't drink ANYTHING for 8 years. Now I can drink when I want and not touch a drop when I DON'T want it. Makes me no never mind...

What changed my mind about drinking? Being around chronic drunks. Never again did I want anyone to see me as one.

Extreme nearsighted resulting in multiple tears of my retina ! Over 10 in the left and 3 in the right . 50% loss of vision in my what used to be dominate eye . My shooting eye . Massive floaters in right eye . Used to wear contacts for probably at least 10 years .Also have plugs in both bottom tear duct drains because of extreme dry eyes which was the result of my surgeries . Also had cataract surgery . YouTube Vitrectomy . Actually drained my eye of all fluid to repair retina with laser scarring that holds it together . Lucky I can see at all with the left eye . All together I have had 5 procedures on the right (one surgery ) and 2 surgeries and 2 other procedures on the left since 2016 .

 

I was the same way, if I wasn't at work or driving it was rare to see me without a beer or a bourbon in my hand. Cut way back and now I might have two beers in a week, but that green stuff...

 

I did it in the early 90s for about 3 years ! Lost 33 pounds doing it !

 

UGH!

At age 20, I had a 20 Penny nail/spike richochet and blow apart my left eye. The head hit instead of the spiked end, resulting in more damage. 20+ surgeries and 2 cornea transplants later (all but 1 transplant were done in 2 years following the accident).

I'm fortunate to still have that eye. All I'm left with is a strange shaped astigmatism. My vision is now correctable to 20/40 with a torric lens. My Iris suffered some damage, so my pupil is slightly off center and my Iris doesn't close much when it's bright out. Just have to wear good sunglasses a lot.

One of those incidents in one's life that alters things dramatically.

Nobody notices unless I tell them.

Holy shit , that terrible ! Glad you still have your eye . Some scary stuff . I’m not too bad . Still fighting some double vision issues . Dr trying to correct it by putting prisms into my eyeglasses . But they are not 100% . I have a wrinkle in my left retina so one eye sees a lot differently than the other and brain puts one image on top of the other resulting in double vision . Just have to deal with it

 

Yup.....25 years . Heavy equipment operater before that .

 

What'd you drive? Kenworth, Peterbilt, Mack, Freightliner, Volvo?

 

I’ve driven pretty much everything , mostly Freightliner ! Pulled reefer ,dry box ,flat bed ,dump trailer ,walking floor .

 

I just got that contact in my left eye 2 years ago. Before that I was primarily using just my right eye. When I first wore it, it was amazing, like seeing the world again in wide screen. My brain was processing the images again after so many years of dormancy.

I'm left handed, but shoot right and am right eye dominant.

 

I’m left handed also ,everything lefty for me except golf and baseball batting but I don’t do any of that anymore . Back of the eyes and retinas being thin I take no chances damaging them again . No more heavy lifting ,pushing ,pulling and try to not bend at the waist to much. No more running ,not that I did a lot but I used to use the treadmill . Basically anything that will give me a jolt I avoid like the plague What really sucks is walking in the woods ,depth perception and double vision make it more difficult to hunt obviously. Which is my favorite thing especially archery

 

Hopefully your ophthalmologist can get that stabilized or even improved.

Badass. My dad has worked in all trucks as well! He currently drives a Volvo VNL he bought new in 2012. Before that, he had a 2006 Freightliner Columbia.
