My camper shell story. I was on Tacoma World classifieds when I saw an ARE CX Classic with Yakima tracks on top. They were mounted by the former owner. But it came to me with just the tracks, and Yakima racks are fairly expensive! So like y'all, I went to the pick-n-pull places until I found a friendly one.

Pulled some anchor points and a rear crossbar off a Ford Explorer. Brought them home and they don't quite fit. But I modified them, and now they do!

Just had to take a little bit off the side. IMG_20210701_201914_335~2.jpg
Now it fits! So I ended up with three attachment points and a crossbar for $20. Not a bad start.

I also went to junkyard and pulled 2 of the same kind of racks off and added the 2 crossbars from the second and bolted it to the camper and am well pleased. The two racks cost 25 total and just got to seal the bolt heads. I used a trick to help doing this by myself by drilling the hole and tapping the hole with a tap. I then just tightened up the screw from the top till the rubber gasket felt good and when i went inside to put on nut and washer, i did not need anyone holding on theB6B7BB1F-0276-4060-9674-BC8D2135B400.jpg screw from the top, a true one man job.
