This is my first time here, so let me know if I'm in the wrong place.

I'm looking at a cap for my 99 extra cab tacoma.

    The seller says it's 59.5 x 75.5 .

from what I can see, 1st gens are about 60x 74 ish. Seems pretty close, but it's a very long drive so I thought I'd ask for advice first.

Can the seller give you a pic of the canopy mounted on a truck? That would be the best way to tell.

But those numbers are pretty close, its probably fine.

Thanks for the quick reply! He says the truck was totalled recently and he hadn't set it up yet when that happened. He said it was supposed to be for a new tacoma? Which is confusing because they are much bigger as far as I knew. But those are his measurements, which don't seem to make sense for a 2020, so I assume it's for an older model as the dimensions line up pretty much perfectly. He says it's good for frontier too. I want more info but not getting much from him.

That kind of canopy has a basic clamp design that holds it down.

The bottom sides that sit on the bed rails are pretty wide, you'll be able to move it around quite a bit without it slipping off.

His measurements are all within 2 inches of yours, i wouldn't over think it

    Stock for now.. maybe
The 1st gens are easier to mix and match I think. I bought a older shell from a random person with no truck... it still fits fine!

Shell wasn't made for tacoma but fits pretty good and stays dry. If the price is right I'd say go for it

Sorry, one last question, will the clamps from my tonneau cover be reuseable for this?

Never owned a tonneau cover but I'm going to say probably not. You'll want to get at least four C-clamps from a hardware store. Use those to get it home safely and then figure out from there

Currently have 6 of these bad boys. They seem pretty similar to what you're describing. Could be they're only for tonneau's though i don't know.
maybe someone here has used both tonneau and camper shell and knows?
Anyways thanks so much for all the info !
