My Tacoma has a tri-fold hard tonneau which I'm real happy with but if you live in a high crime area, like I used to, then I'd strongly recommend a Weatherguard tool box. Those boxes are like a vault and more secure than anything I've ever seen anywhere.

    http://www.weatherguard.com/truck_tool_boxes/index.php

The problem with tool boxes is that they fill up real quick.

Are those hard flip up tops easy to take off and store someplace?

I have an ARE hard top. Four bolts and it comes off. They say to use three people but two can take it of easily, it's very light. Not that easy to store since it is bulky and I think it's better to store it flat.

I like it without a top but I like it even more to have the ability to look up my stuff.

Rugged ridge isolator kit.
I really like my Best Top. Folds completely forward to the cab when down. Keep water out, no need to store a heavy hard shell, sides removable for better visibility and perfect for getting the dog out of the hot sun.

Light, aluminum cap. I rigged my garage with a hand-crank boat winch to wall, cable up to ceiling joist with pulley then to a second pulley. On its end a custom 'H' shaped rig with 4 hanging straps with 'D' ring ends. I can single-handedly remove and replace the cap. I added 4 lift rings inside the cap. Windows and rear flip end must be open to access the lift rings. No new holes thru top, so no leaks in rain.

Cap (Hard) - I have a basic Leer topper. You can carry all kinds of things in there without the wind and weather getting them. It's pretty secure, too.

I may get some sort of topper for winter. But in summer I carry dirtbikes(s) so I need a clear bed.

I can see the value in a cover, topper, whatever...but I do think a truck looks better 'naked' and its utility is maximized without all that stuff. However, it depends on what you need to haul, carry, do with your tacoma.

    I guess its all good.

    Nice poll.

Naked when you can, cap when needed, tonneau in the winter to keep snow out of the bed.

And are my eyes playing tricks on me or is there no front window? I like the construction of the bestop but I'm leaning towards softopper since the front window rolls up. From what I've read about the bestop, the front window stays in place.

    Rain Visors,
your ride looks awesome man, if they made a DC LB with a 6-speed I'd buy it tomorrow....but shopping now, may have to sacrifice my 6-speed for a LB...just awesome!

Line-X came out with a little less expensive version that Diamond Back makes for them and comes coated with Line-X. Same exact design use not the diamond plate. I'm glad you posted pics cause I couldn't find anything out there to see how it would look.

    thanks,
