Love my Extang Trifecta. Transfered it from my '06 to my '10.

I Wondered Too if anyone bought one of these yet? Made by Diamondback like mentioned, $899 delivered anywhere in the lower 48. (Diamondback charges $300 extra to add this feature or coating to one of their covers!) It says it is made of .080 thick material, and rated for up to 250 lbs on top. I called a customer sales guy at Line X and he downplayed the 250 lb load capacity, stating Line X does not recommend carrying anything on top of their covers. But if you go to the Diamondback website, the model next up from their entry level cover has the same material thickness of .080, but is rated for 400 lb on top? Maybe the diamondplate surface helps, and or they have more support internally? However, the covers looks the same from the pictures available on both websites inside and out, structurally, etc., with no extra supports visable or design differences minus the texture of the material? Anyway, follow the link below to check out this cover. Seems like the best deal out there is the undercover price wise, but for about $200 more this seems like a lot more cover for the money...

No one has bought a Line X tonneau yet? And only one member with a Diamondback tonneau?

First post, but I've lurked for a awhile.

I've had the Diamondback 270 cover for just a few weeks, I'll do a review in a while. My plans are to mount two 3-gallon Rotopax fuel cans on each of the lids near the cab and build a small rack for the rear cover...so I'll be carrying less than the rated 400lbs. I think you could add some bracing on the inside of these covers to spread the loads.

Welcome to TW! Looking forward for your review. I liked the 180 cover, but then I saw this Line X cover and the price is tempting. Diamondback charges $300 extra to Line X their covers. And I liked the black look with my truck.

diamondback has like 2 or 3 levels of covers i know one can hold 400# on top. and i know the HD or what ever can hold 800# i think one is a little thicker than the other and has more supports. it’s also the ONLY tonneau i would put on my truck if i was to even get one. i’m going to get a best top this fall/winter like it more because i can put taller items in the bed, than you can with a tonneau.

I most always have a cap on...because I have tools in back and have to sleep back there from time to time {hunting, traveling, etc.} works well for me! BUT I sure like the trucks with nothing on them...I just can't do it!

My Diamondback 270 from the the first big trip. If you organize your packing it helps to have the three lids. Shown with the CBI bumper with a few customs mods.

the softtopper is awesome.. but you might as well buy a hard cap if you have a soft topper.

I bought the Truxport Truxedo and I love it... soft roll up tonneau with velco on the sides.. mounts above the rails so you can still use all the bed rail tie downs.. only $250.. and keeps all the water out. Plus it's pretty secure unless you cut the cover (i have a pop&lock too). I like it more then a trifold because i dont have to store it anywhere if want to use the whole bed... just roll it to the front. all the cross supports are attached to, and roll up with the cover.

on an unlimited budget i would buy this cover
    http://youtu.be/qDFth7D92QQ

roll-x hard rolling tonneau cover. but you lose use of the bed rails.

which brings me to the next best option.. keep the use of the bed rails.. very very secure.. and can be removed in less then a min.

extang solid fold. would be very nice if $ isnt much of an issue. but you still have to remove and store it if you want to use the entire bed

I had a Trifecta on my 05 dakota, only put it on when fishing so i could leave stuff in the bed but didnt like the look of it on. Might get one for my taco for same reason but wont put it on other than that. I think they just look so much better without. I still have the one from the dakota if anyone has a secondary PoS and is looking.

secondary question (didnt read every page on here) does tonneau effect gas millage? many debates among friends over this

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I have a soft fold style tonneau, but only use it in the winter as I hate shoveling snow out of my bed and it is just nice to have a dry place to store things that you don't want getting covered in snow or getting wet. In the summer I do a lot of dirt biking so my CRF is in the bed about 60% of the time so trying to use it in the summer would be more of a hassle than it is worth. Plus I like the look of a naked bed and also have a garage when I am home for the summer.

Tri-fold Bakflip Tonneau, Pop & Lock
Had my backflip now for about 6 months. For the most part I really like it. Stuff is secure (with pop&lock/hard tonneau combo) and dry. Couple of downsides I hadn't anticipated. 1) avoid hail! Got plenty of dings in a hail storm before I was able to pull under an underpass. It's cosmetic but you'd think it would have stood up to the hail. Guess not! 2) Tonneau is not great for camping. Clearance when tonneau is down is only 15 inches which is not deep enough for a cooler. So cooler has to go between my kids which actually keeps them from getting in each others bidness but it is definitely not ideal. Hadn't really thought about the cooler situation when I bought the thing - hopefully this helps out if you're considering the tonneau route.
