I like the camper shell but I use it for a bunch of stuff.
I picked up a used Snug Top Hi Liner for $320. It's 3 inches taller than the cab. I built a sleeping platform in the back. It still has plenty of headroom so you can sit up. For lights I bought some battery powered LED's and put velcro on the backs. You just stick them to the carpet wherever you want lights. We made some black out curtains with velcro to seal light in and out This way we can sleep in the back in town and watch a movie or have the lights on inside and no one would no we're in there. The curtains also insulate very well. It was almost too warm in side when it was 25 degrees F outside.

The space under the platform is great for carrying gear. I especially like it for hauling scuba tanks.

At some point I'm going to put a water tank under the platform with a pump and a spigot at the back of the platform. A second battery will go into the other side of the bed with an inverter to power various items. I'll probably wire up a ceiling vent to it as well and maybe more permanent lights.

I voted hard tonneau because I love my undercover! It was the first thing I wanted and bought for my truck. Since my truck was new in 2009 that bed hasn't seen much water at all. It still looks good too! I want to drill it for tracks and racks, so now i'm tempted to get another one off of craigs so I have one that's rock solid no chance of leaking.

I had an 89 and went naked for years on my Yota. I also moved rivers of water as it occasionally rains in Oregon. I decided that I wanted to have a little dryer conveyance for my new truck so purchased a Bak Flip 2 for my truck. Not only does it give me a somewhat dryer place (nothing is perfect) for my cargo, but it also gives me a sealed container for travelling. One of the advantages of a cap is the windows, but it also gives a view of whatever you are hauling. Besides I can either roll it back or take it off in just a few minutes if I need to use the whole bed.

Soft cap. Had a hard tonneau lid on my 03 dcsb or. Nice with a Yakima rack on it. But the Toyota beds are not deep enough. Ouldnt fit much under it. Not even a decent cooler. Then went with a hard cap and was nice but storage was an issue. Now on my 2011 I have the soft top. Love it. Folds removes stores.

Access Literider Tonneau, GO RHINO Dominator II side steps
Well, having used all over the years, I decided to go roll up tonneau. Mainly for price. I can keep light stuff under to keep it from blowing around. Keeps the snow and ice from clanking around. Rolls up and out of the way for large items.

Mainly for price this time though. Thought about naked but I haul a lot of paper trash and it is too tough to keep in the bed on the highway without a net or cover.

Installing my Access Literider as soon as the weather breaks. $280.

Diamondback SE cover with line-x coating, Bed extender
I'm close to pulling the trigger on this cover but have a few questions:

Are you still able to use the deck rail system with the cover on? I want to use the oem cargo divider as well.
Do you have a bed extender? Wondering if the bed extender can flip in and out of the bed with the rear cover folded over.
    Thanks!
