Cap's Old Man Tan '05 Access Cab

Bumper is being painted now and should be on tomorrow night. Rack didn't quite get started but that will be Fridays project. Going with a simpler rack design. Basically a two bar rack straddling my side boxes with 3 spreaders and kickers to mount to the bed bolts. I probably won't be able to open to the boxes completely but that's okay. I'm trying to keep the top of the RTT within a couple inches of the cabs roofline.

How did you paint the rims

 

Pulled them off, cleaned, masked and sprayed them with the same Krylon and Harbor Freight HVLP gun I used for everything else. It was a pain in the ass. I used two quarts for the rims, boxes, rack and flares.

 

Rock lights are almost done. Little bit of wiring left to do. There is a long run of wire above each slider that has no lights. I ordered led strips to replace the wires. Should be here in a few days. Hopefully I can splice it in the weekend.

Gun I used is on sale for $10. The Harbor Freight inline pressure regulator is a piece of crap but the gun is great, even for $20.

 

More work done today. Wiring is done and the switch/relay installed for the rock lights and Offroad driving lights.

Almost do building my house battery system to power lights and accessories in the bed and RTT.

Ran wiring to the RTT so I can add LED lights, a fan and a phone charger later.

RTT is installed and dry. It got rained on during last night's install.

Picked up a cooler and have it mocked up in place. I have to pull the cross bed box out to put the house battery in place. Debating if I should run a 4g cable from the alternator to the battery to keep it charged or look for some kind of solar setup so it's completely self contained.

I'm bench testing my temporary onboard water system now. The jugs are a bitch to get in and out so I'm hooking up a 12v pump I have laying around and a little tubing from Lowe's. This way I can pump water out easily. Eventually I'll have a more elaborate system with a tank under the toolbox, but this will work for now.

Blew the rear diff on Daniel Trail at Uwharrie national Forrest this weekend. Had to get towed to ECGS and have it rebuilt. Had them throw a set of 4.56s in since I'm a 6-speed. Didn't have the cash for the front so that (and wheeling) will have to wait a while. I'll probably order a front diff with 4.56s in the next couple months but I doubt I'll have money for an ARB locker by then so it might have to stay open.

 

I started cleaning out the cab of my truck and reorganizing. After 8 or 9 years you accumulate a lot of crap. I'll work on the tool boxes later.

So today I emptied the cab and steam cleaned the interior after last weeks camping/wheeling disaster. 200k on the truck so its still pretty rough, but better than it was. Here's what came out


Here's what went back in

Center console organizer. Multitool, knife, winch controllers, safety glasses, gloves, pens, sharpies, lighter, batteries etc

.22 truck gun I picked up for $60. Its in "kit" form made from an old ACU leg. In the kit is the rifle, 22ammo in grizzly cans, a cheap knife, flashlight, 550, magnesium block, jute twine, candle and batteries. The rifle also has a sling


NFA paperwork copies for my suppressors and SBR


Covered with nonslip foam mat for the mutt to sit on


Under the fold down seats
Bottle jack tall enough to lift my truck. This will be awesome when I get OBA

Other side has cables and a flashlight. These batteries are actually made up of 36 AA batteries. So in an emergency you can open it up and snag them

Clipped to the passenger seat. Two hats. Very important when you're bald


Clipped to the driver seat is my GHB


Sitting behind it is my first aid kit.

Plugged into the power outlets is my CB and phone charger


That's pretty much it. If there's enough interest I'll go over the first aide and GHBs.

I forgot that I through an old atlas under the passenger seat. I need a newer one.

 

Dang man, you have more stuff in your truck than I have in mine. Good stuff to have with you at all times though

 

We haven't ever covered the 3 tool boxes yet.

Maybe that contributed to my broken rear diff

 

good god, that's a lot of stuff in there... i barely carry a complete set of tools and a tow strap....
