My schedule is all fucked up this month. I'm working the weekend everyone is going to URE. I have Friday and Sat off but work Sunday. So I'll probably cut while they wheel. Hopefully the following weekend the body lift will be in so we can get that installed and the cab mount moved. Ordered a second body lift for Eddies truck as well.

Your point? I started researching it last year when my build was just starting. Now I bought them. Did a few things in between. I think at that point I had been lifted for 3 months and had sliders, that was about it.

Is there a point to your smug, condescension that I'm missing here?

Had some set backs today but also got a little inspiration

Had to buy a Cheetah for $200 just to seat the beads. There's grease inside the tires that is a bitch to clean out but will prevent balance beads from working properly. The extended studs I ordered, aren't extended and the lugs nuts only catch about 2 threads. Even with the 1/4" spacer I think I'm going to have to grind on the caliper. Eddy trimmed my rear bumper back 3" which I wasn't expecting him to stop working to do. Probably saved me 3hrs of cutting and grinding with a wheel.

Next project will be to finish cleaning greasy too out of the tires and get them all mounted with some sort of balancing media in them. Then start sorting out the wheel stud problem. I REALLY don't want to spend $300 on ARP studs

Yup, thats pretty much how it goes. "Fuck it I'll spend a grand and do this 2 day project" generally turns into $2grand and 3 weekends of work. This one will be no different.

If my body lift gets here this week (which I doubt) it will speed up the process. I might actually be able to move my cab mount next weekend. I'm off tomorrow. HOPEFULLY the tires will all be scrubbed clean (which takes for-fucking-ever) mounteded with airsoft BBs to balance and my wheel studs replaced. May not all happen, but thats the goal.

The Gods are conspiring against me.

Destroyed my phone screen crawling under my truck yesterday with it in my pocket.

My electric smoker shot out this morning when I went to put 2 Boston butts in it.

And Napa only has 6 of the 24 wheel studs I need. Guess ill be ordering them and installing them this weekend instead of today.

Wonder when my body lift will ship

IF anyone decides to follow me down this path here's some advice learned from todays experience

Surplus tires are going to be full of grease. Apperently it has something to do with lubricating the runflat inserts. Not important why it's there, just that it needs to come out. Balance beads, powder, whatever will stick to it and never work.

I tried brake cleaner the other day. Used two cans on two tires and a crapload of paper towels and newspaper. Didn't work worth a shit.

Today I went to the local Family Dollar and bought about 5 $1 stiff nylon scrub brushes and a big bottle of blue Dawn dish washing detergent. THAT SHIT IS AMAZING!!!

I scrubbed the inside of all the tires and they came out MUCH better with less work and less money in cleaning products. The Dawn cuts right through the grease. THe only thing that sucks is getting the water back out of the tires afterwards. I ended up doing tire flips and slams up and down my driveway to get the majority of it out and then a sponge to finish it off.

Also the $5 tire bar from Harbor Freight is worth its weight in gold. Get TWO. You can mount the tires with just one but you really need a second to dismount them. I only have one so I had to use a prybar as a supplement. It worked but another tire bar would have been much better.

Also expect a bruised forearm after you finish all the scrubbing. You slam and rub it back and forth against the tire bead the whole time you're scrubbing. Took me a while to figure out where this big ass bruise came from, but that's it

Thus concludes todays lesson. Now you're smarter than I am. Which isn't saying much

Hopefully you have better luck with the body lift, but it sounds like you might get it this time next year if your luck doesn't change.

Well that was a fucking disaster. I got my extended studs today. Put them in the driver side with no problems.

Moved to the passenger, which I've replaced the hub in, knocked out all the studs , and the new ones wouldn't fit. The holes in the hub are a hair smaller and the shanks of the stud BARELY fit. The splines were a complete no go. I had to bang it back out and luckily I got 5 of 6 of the old studs back in. One snapped in the process. Now I guess I need to get my old OEM hub rebuilt so I can put my extended studs in it.

What a pain in the ass.
