Looking for tips/suggestions from anyone with experience using either.

I'm thinking of strategically spraying some fluid film in the engine bay, primarily to keep rodents out. Metal areas on top of the wheel wells, top of battery, flat spots like on top of plastic air intake, underside skid plate, etc. Good/bad idea? Anywhere I definitely want to keep the spray off of?

For those that have used the 'rodent' tape, did you tape around just the wire looms? Most of the wire looms stop several inches short of the connectors. Do you also tape around the connectors and exposed wires running into the loom? TIA.

I had a rodent issue in my engine bay a few years back and had good results with spraying peppermint oil mixed with water in the engine bay. I even soaked the white insulating material under the engine cover as they started building a nest in there. Apparently, they don't like the smell... I still spray in and around the engine bay occasionally and haven't seen any signs of them returning. Or an outdoor cat works too.
    Best of luck!

Thanks for the suggestions. I have tried peppermint oil, among other things, and can't say it was very effective for me. I believe the buggers are roof rats, and they are apparently very skittish. Similar to the snowbirds we get down here, they only become a nuisance during the winter. They seem to enjoy spending their evenings feeding on acorns in the warmth and relative safety of the engine bay. I find shells and feces all over, including inside the air intake box and the cabin filter on my wife's subaru.

I'm definitely gonna try the honda rodent tape.

Ive used fluid film to keep ants from crawling on my hummingbird feeder in the spring. Couldn’t hurt to spray it under the hood. Rust prevention and possibly rodent

Go to Thinigverse and print yourself an ant moat for your hummingbird feeder. Hang it inline with the feeder and add a little water. if you don't do 3D you can buy one cheap on Amazon or wherever. 100% keep ants out. Maybe I'll try fluid film to keep the raccoon off my bird seed feeder. Bastard gets it every night if I don't bring it in.

I use fluid film under the hood, can’t really say it helps with rodents.
