The one that's not faded ano is $100 (spot) the faded ano only on one side is $80 (spot/flood).

Little bit of high quality black spray paint and the faded one will be just fine.

So, we put out a request to our neighbors to see if anyone knows who the owner of the unknown white Yota is that ran me off the road - we got one potential license plate which I passed along to the CSP officer and he's exploring that lead.

In the meantime, Sunday was me freaking out that I destroyed my truck. Monday was spent freaking out that had that whole scenario played out *slightly* different, I could have died. Yesterday was spent freaking out that insurance wouldn't cover much/anything/enough.

Basically for some reason my agent didn't have full coverage on the truck (I didn't catch this error, because billing is handled through my dad's company), so liability isn't gonna cover a damn thing. My dad spoke with our agent Monday and discovered we have uninsured/underinsured driver coverage - and the agent informed us that in cases of hit-and-run incidents, which this is classified by per the police report, UID coverage will step in and cover these circumstances. There are some potential loopholes in Colorado in regard to this, but I believe due to the vagueness of the identity of the other driver, those may not apply / or may be dismissed fairly easily.

I called and filed a claim Monday and an adjuster came out to look the truck over yesterday and assess potential repair damages to pass on to the claims specialists who will then determine if moving forward with repair is a valid option, or if it's a total loss. I saw the rough price estimate (adjuster couldn't get exact prices because we don't have cell reception up here), the rough estimate was about $10,500 all said and done - and that's not counting if the frame is bent or if there's more extensive damage to the lower A pillar on the passenger side.

I'm assuming they're going to total it. If so, the adjuster and I spoke and he's going to assess the value of the truck as a stock vehicle, and I'll spend a few days removing everything, and restoring the suspension back to stock, since I still have the leaf springs and shackles, all I'll really need to track down is some old struts, and a set of used tires.

I've compiled a checklist of all my parts, organized by interior / exterior / suspension / mechanical, and once they declare it a total loss, I'll get it towed to the garage, jack it up, and remove everything / replace some things. I still have the old front brakes, since trash hasn't come by yet, so I'll pull the new front pads and rotors; I want to see if I can track down some axle shafts with drum brake assemblies in rougher shape so I can hold on to this set with brand new axle bearings and pads.

If anyone (preferably local) has any of the following sitting around that they can live without for free :) or cheap, let me know:
    - first gen struts
    - 16" truck tires (any size, any condition - as long as it'll mount up and hold air (they said it needs to roll)
    - 8" axle shaft assembly (both sides) w/ drum
    - not sure what cross-compatibility is with 8" and 8.5" axles, I'm assuming they don't go back and forth...

Sad thing, is I've only had my sliders on for like 2.5 weeks, and there's not really any saving these for another truck :(

I feel like it might be more work than it's worth, especially to try and get the standoffs square again once they're off the truck. We'll see, I'm not sure how this will all pan out from here... It's all up in the air.

My dad is bringing a trailer up to the house on Saturday to load the truck up and bring it into town to a body shop who's agreed to pursue the repair. Right now the shop is thinking about a cab graft - I want to talk to them about maybe doing a full cab swap, since they'll be finding a full cab anyway, it would have greater structural integrity if it weren't butt-welded on, and would basically just mean it's a wiring project rather than severe body work.

Today, the latest implementation of the never-ending flow of stressors in my life. We had a tow truck driver come up (keep in mind, it's 6f at the house, and expected snowfall between now and tomorrow morning is up to 10" in my neck of the woods (heh).

Guy wasn't a very happy camper that he had to drive on a snowy road... go figure, he's working during a BLIZZARD... And he never let me forget that fact. Granted, he was also ill-equipped, not having any chains for his truck.

    I miss having fun.

The good news: it's safe and sound at the repair shop... and once it was up on the truck and on more level ground - the suspension leveled out nicely, so I'm going to say the frame is just fine.

I'm gonna see what the body shop says, it's certainly in my consideration right now. It would be cool to find a double cab :)

Hmm, that's good to know. I think I might be able to beg/borrow/barter some shop space with my dad's friend who's helping us out on this if that's the route I want to go and their rates would be too high for it to be reasonable.

Does anyone have any good resources for info on cab swappage? I've perused multiple threads, and so far the most informational has been Monte's. The thought of doing a full cab swap is high on my list of consideration right now, as it'll be more structurally sound, and require less body work. I'm tentative with the idea of doing the roof swap - at best if the pillars are all sleeved on the inside, it'll just be slightly less prone to buckling in the event that the truck wants its belly rubbed again. No matter how well it's done, there's always going to be that possibility lurking in the back of my mind.

And I don't like the way cages look on tacos, and don't want one on mine - too busy for my taste.

Basically, I can make my schedule such that I have time to fuss around with a cab swap, provided I can figure out space to do this, and the steps necessary. I want to be absolutely sure that this is something I can confidently tackle before I dive into it, as if I get in over my head, that's kind of a tough spot to be in.

As with any project I begin, I make sure I know the major steps before I begin, cut, or remove anything. Does anyone have info for how the wiring from the engine bay to the cab attach inside? And what all enters/exits the cab (roughly) for electrical and mechanical? Obviously the throttle cable, parking brake, brake and clutch stuff, are all mechanical, I've never looked closely at how the brake and clutch bits transfer through the firewall, but the throttle and parking brake are just cables.

I figure if I can completely gut the donor cab, get the existing cab off, and the gutted donor on the frame, then connect the basics, I can go to work disassembling my cab and systematically moving parts from one to the other - bit by bit...

Working on getting a donor cab here today... going to begin the cab swap shortly.

Ordered a service manual this morning, and been perusing parts lists this morning getting ready. Soon...

Brett, you're welcome to drop by any time this week if you feel like it... I'm pretty sure I'll have enough hands for the physical swap, but we could always use extra (or someone to man the camera :) )

Shipping info for the service manual said it was set to arrive at my house Tuesday sometime, happy to see it arrived Saturday :)

And more importantly, we have CAB! Yesterday my dad and I rented a trailer and went up to Jim's yard to pick up the cab and new doors, dropped by the car wash on the way back to give it a good cleaning, then with the help of 3 extra sets of hands, the 5 of us got the cab up and out of the bed and into the garage without a hitch.

It was really funny driving back from the yard, because we kept thinking there was this asshole in a little truck tailgating us...

I have to work today and tomorrow, since I sucked myself into managing eBay sales for work, and planned an event for today, but tomorrow night I roll down to my parents house, and Tuesday morning I begin the process... I need to come up with an order of operations, but that's yet to happen.

I've also decided on paint, and ordered paint today, hopefully it'll arrive before long - going with a replica CARC desert storm tan :)

If any of you local guys know of the existence of an 01-04 headliner and / or door panels, preferably of the tan variety, please let me know!
