Well, now I must remember not to panic while I consider the ultimate question.

oops, maybe.... OBX here is Ormond by the Sea and everyone is fighting about beach driving.... Won't speak for NC folks but probably still not good idea to bury your axle on a beach environmentally speaking.

Im new to this forum but not new to car/motorcycle forums. I must say this is by far the most inane forum ever. Every time anyone disagrees instead of either having an educational debate about it, or just staying out of it people instead just say completely off topic things and post stupid pictures.

Welcome to the 3rd gen threads.

Wait a few months until all the hoopla dies down around the third generation Tacoma and then the forum will be more what you are used to.

Yup. Then someone will mention the 3.5 L is a mini van engine, then someone else will point out it drives just fine and gets 20 mpg, then someone will say that's not good enough cause DEEZUL, and then the fireworks over something absolutely silly will start up again.

The amount of good natured conversation in the third gen forums is equal to or less than 0.

It doesn't matter if it's not in the same class, I can compare apples to planets to prove my point!

Now what were we talking about again?

This coming from a guy that re-wrote the sponge bob song to make fun of someone that was actually making pretty decent points about drum brakes. I mean lets just be honest here, when it comes to stopping drum brakes are inferior. Then again though so are leaf springs when it comes to suspension. I think in 2016 you just dont expect to see a pick up for this amount of money with drum brakes, leaf springs, and a non power or height adjustable drivers seat. This is only the first year of the redesign though so im willing to wait. The only other truck that has a stick with the options I want is the frontier but Im willing to wait since the tacoma seams like the better truck but who knows what will come when nissan does a redesign. Hell who knows whats going to happen with the new jeep pickup. Toyota will have to step thier game up eventually, right now their just riding the fact that they have been the best truck in in class for so long but when you come out with a redesign in 2016 with so many options missing that are on every other pickup in the market sales will have an effect. I mean does anyone really not think its hilarious that the limited doesnt even have a power seat lol, who would spend the money on a classy type of truck like that with out a power seat. Its kind of the same situation with a trd calling it self a sport but it has leafs and drums, nothing sporty about those. Im sure in the coming years we will see some changes with the way the mid size pick up market is picking up, pun intended lol.

If you had been here for the last year you might realize that's about the 80th time BlueT has felt the need to turn any thread about the 3rd gen into a hate filled rant about the brakes, engine, frame, whatever. It's a joke made on a joke. If it offends you maybe you really should stay away from the 3rd gen section for a while. It's filled with this sort of crapola and, trust me, you can usually find a member like Bluet or some other intentional shit disturber at the center. They have no interest in doing anything but ranting and insulting other peoples choice of vehicle. If you don't like it fine, start a thread about it, but don't rain on other peoples parades intentionally.

Leaf springs have superior loading characteristics. If you loaded a lot of trucks you'd see why no heavy trucks use springs. Well, other than some of the Dodge heavy duty line of light duty trucks. Anyways, for ride quality and off road springs are superior. For loading leaves are superior. So take your pick of what you need.

The argument about disc brakes is old. Who cares. The truck doesn't have disc brakes. Do we really need to write about it hundreds of times? It's happened, deal with it. This is like when Jeep got rid of the I6. It's done, let's move on. Maybe one day Toyota will fix the discrepancy but until then bitching about it doesn't change it. If you really think the lack of disc brakes is the sole determining factor over whether or not you buy a 2016 then there are PLENTY of other options out there with disc brakes to tickle your fancy.

If you've drove a lot of Toyota's you'd realize they aren't really a leading edge company aside from their hybrids. Everything else is pretty tame with a conservative design that lags a few years behind everyone else. They lean on their reliability for sales. Maybe a Toyota isn't a car for you.

I'm going to post this comment and properly get some heat for it, I think the twins
are better quality then the past twins with lots of improvements. Always was a fan
of Tacoma's owned nothing but, with that said my last 2 Tacoma's were plagued with
steering shake issues to the extreme my 2014 was bought back though the lemon
law posses, which was nothing short of a mess glad I won. So for me looking at the new
twins and other options is a new fresh start.

Not at all. I have a friend who bought a previous gen Colorado 5 cylinder and initially, both the appearance and mechanics appeared well made and of decent quality.

Reputation and resale and CR and other reviews will disclose most problem areas in either make. Heck, unless Chevy came out with a new model, the 2016 Toyota might very well never have been changed. If you like the Colorado, buy it. As a Toyota owner, I am all for others buying other makes to increase competition and drive down prices. Quality is half reality, half perception. Go for it and enjoy the experience of buying a new car, r egardless of what it is.

I use to be a delivery driver so I loaded trucks all the time and am aware that leaves are superior for loads but the only time you see a pick up with leaves is like you said a 3500 and up. I wasnt offended by anything, I just enjoy a good debate and hate when it turns into pointless name calling, flaming, and posting of inane pictures and talk of potatoes lol. Complaining does actually serve a purpose though, when a company see that someone is choosing one vehicle over another because of one reason or another they will eventually change if it means more sales. I personally was in contact with toyota multiple times when then 2016 first came out because I wanted to know if it was a glitch in their website or if i really couldn't order a DCLB with a manual transmission, I also made it clear that I couldnt understand why they are still using drums. I would have also mention the seat if I had known about it then. The old saying is true that the squeaky wheel gets the oil, if people dont speak up then things will never change.

I like the styling of both the Colorado and Tacoma but I can't get past the reliability issues of Colorado
