I don't like the Z71 interior much either. Then again, I don't like the new Taco interior much wither....That's where I give though, I don't really care about interiors much, aesthetics wise that is.

I've never understood the modern market difference between GMC and Chevy. If you go way back it used to be work versus play, but now it's basically "want a different front end for $500?"

I disagree that the duration of the 2nd Generation is somehow a strike against Toyota. If anything it confirms that it was a good design that people liked. Some of my favorite automobile designs (Beetle, 911, Jeep etc.) have had generations that lasted well over a decade.

Sure, but I'm only talking about THIS forum.

Someone definitely has no life if he wants to shove his well-known one-dimensional opinion down other people's throats a million times.

Just curious, Do either of the GM trucks have a crawl mode of some sort? My buddy just bought a 4Runner and I thought it was a pretty cool feature for off-road. But what do I know I'm still driving a 1st Gen Tacoma haha :p

No crawl control and the rear locker isn't much of a locker to be honest. Not a deal breaker but it'd be nice if GM offered a true locker.

I agree! I hate to say it, but since I have a little girl on the way. I've thought about going with a 4R:rolleyes:

We thought about it too but at 5,000 lbs towing and the same old terrible mileage it wasn't worth it.... :pout:

The 4Runner is a great truck for fun, not great on the wallet or practicality. That's probably why it's the last of a dying breed. Do you think if Ford builds a Bronco off the international Ranger but updates it enough to get decent mid sized towing and mpg numbers it could hurt the 4Runner? I don't think so, I'd expect it would end up much like the Colorado and find it's own market.

Yea I'm not to crazy about the 5,000 lbs towing either. I was actually surprised the new Tacoma gets out to 6,800 lbs towing. Or so they say haha and im sure that's xcab numbers.

Yeah, IIRC it falls off to 6,300 lbs after DCLB V6 is added on.

To be honest, while towing with a midsized is acceptable, my buying and real world experience says if towing a travel trailer will be a normal summer task then you should buy a full size.

I might be the oddball here, but I can't believe that the Runner is a dying bread. I'm surprised more people that like off-roading, camping etc. don't' buy them over Tacos, 'cause let's face it, most Taco owners don't really need the bed. I think the only reason it has become a dying bread is because it looks like all the "soccer mom" crossover crap....which, i guess is why Toyota tried to toughen up the front-end. It's more practically than Wranglers which sell like hot-cakes....but the Wrangler, like the Taco, screams "I am not a cross over 'mom car'!"

And they know they don't need the bed! Thats why the short beds sell.

No, it's a dying breed because more and more SUVs are downsizing to the cross-over size, going unibody and moving away from BOF configuration.
