Car could be made from pure gold and given for free. As long as is diesel I will stay FAR away from it. The pipe smell it makes me puke really fast, can not stand the smell of it. Tried to drive one once and I was driving like a dog with my head out the window.

It doesn't need to get to the commander...the superintendent can issue extra duty.

My rims need washed. While you're at it, get everyone else's too.

Probably good to cut back on the coffee. Those jitters are making you a bit emotional.

The biggest problem with the Silverado DEF system is the reservoir assembly on top of the DEF tank. We replace on average 1 per day, but nearly all are covered by warranty.

This is grossly inaccurate. I know of 3 diesel trucks that have all had major problems. My dad has had his truck worked on 3 times with issues related to emissions and he finally just said screw it and did a complete exhaust bypass. The exhaust bypass is what many owners are doing now.

The diesel problems I've loosely followed on Dmax forums seem to be cleared up under the warranty periods. It isn't as much like the "howling diff" or misfire issues we're seeing on the third gens that gets dismissed as being "normal" by corporate.

What's inaccurate? The fact that EGR only works at operating temps or that bypassing your factory emissions system voids the warranty? Tell me more ;).

Keep in mind that I've done operations for fleet trucks for several years. I'd love to hear how wrong I am because of what your daddy says.

The fact that they don't work fine with all the emissions crap. HUGE issues with DPF and DEF.

You aren't the only one that works on trucks buddy and in the information age its pretty easy to find shit. Don't be an asshole because I provided you real world examples

If they don't reach operating temperatures than yes. You don't get burn off without the system reaching the correct temperatures. My statement was correct that over short distances the system never reaches proper temps and then you are more prone to having a failure.

Now the fact that during a regen cycle that you lose a lot of power is a totally different issue. That's probably what your dad was upset about and what bugs most people. That's the biggest reason to bypass the system if you use your truck regularly over long distances. There isn't any quite as fun as losing half your torque while going up hill with 30,000lbs on a flat deck.

Loss of power wasn't the problem, its a completely non-functioning truck.

This is funny, first link when you google "Diesel DPF."

Yup, and right in the article you posted:

So when your truck isn't reaching operating temperatures you end up with problems because you're relying on software to try and clean the system out with parameters that aren't constant and with expensive and prone to failure management options that the article gets into. Again, I'm right good sir.

So do "Diesels work fine even with the emissions crap " when you have a bunch of caveats? No

Good to know you think "prone to having failure" for regular use and "losing half your torque" over long ditances means it works just fine..

So you are wrong, no one questioned your knowledge of how it works, only that it works "fine"

Nice straw man argument there my friend. You'll do well in the Turd gen forum.
