OP needs to get more hits to this thread.

Should change the title to "Car and Driver Rates Tacoma Second to Last"

That will turn this into another Smitty 2017 test drive thread.

It's Car and Driver not Truck and Driver, makes sense that the Ridgeline won, it's clearly the best car.

All kidding aside, what's wrong with making a Pickup Truck that LOOKS like a Pickup Truck, and not a swoopy, stylish car wannabee??

ok for the final time, the Ridgeline ISN'T A TRUCK. As for the frontier beating toyota out, and the twins, get real all their testing...on road.

Don't get butthurt people. The gen 3 Tacoma was a pretty big letdown considering we waited 10 years for an improvement and we got a buzzy Lexus motor, transmission problems and other issues from the factory. Toyota deserves a fall in the ratings.

That's why I post these things, @eldedo . The 'testing' they do rates which car is best after a few thousand miles of 'tests'. I don't care about the new car experaince. I want the one that is still running after 15 years and I had to spend the minimal amount of money/shoptime to get there.

Somehow..it doesn't seem like that would be the Ridgeline....or the Chevy.

Well to be fair 95% of mileage ever seen by Tacomas across the board is on pavement.

Ridgeline also has a higher payload capacity than the Tacoma. Not to mention it ships with it's transmission fluid full as well.

Yea, you could say that about mine I guess. But I would have to say that most of favorite times are spent on those 5% is that isn't on blacktop :). So that should count for SOMETHING. I beat the hell out of my stock SR5 suspension on the rocks, sticks, and trees, nothing broke yet. Can't say the same thing about my Silverado.....

I don't know... I like my 2012 X5 Diesel... I have been beating the crap out of it with no major issues. 58K miles on it so far. Love it.

But yeah, on the review from C&D... the Ridgeline #1!?? Really!! #@$%#$%

I want to go see it just for the hell of it... but no way I am getting one...

I do not find it extremely ugly... the Black Edition looks eh...so-so... but just don't call it a truck, lol...

I want a real truck that can take the beating and be able to go off-road without much worry...as well as pull all my toys when I need to.

I would love a Jeep Wrangler JKU... but it just does not cut it for what I want it to use it for... I love the looks of the Toyota Tacoma, but not going for it for several reasons that I have read here in the forum, but man do I love the looks of the Tacoma TRD Off-Road... The best option, for me (flame suit on), is what I was going to buy... a Canyon Double Cab, Short Bed, 4x4, All Terrain with the Duramax (Diesel).... but when those were announced and I placed my deposit, all the fiasco of the VW diesel broke out and I just got tired of waiting for it... took my deposit back after more than three months of waiting... I will try again next year :).

But every time I see a Tacoma in Inferno on the road I kick myself... they look great... reason while I still hang around this forum and continue to be subscribed to the Inferno thread :)

The Ridgeline is meant for people that just want to go to their local hardware store to pick up plants and bags of dirt for their garden... The exterior looks are bland... Interior looks good and I do not see anything wrong with wanting to have car-like interior in a truck... problem is that when you do so, you raise the price of even a based model...

I thought the RL would not appeal to people also looking at a full size truck... I was surprised to see a thread in the Ridgeline forum on this... Check out this thread:

Comparing an F150 at same cost - Honda Ridgeline Owners Club Forums

Enough rambling... back to my cave... carry on!

Leave it to a bunch of people who don't like driving trucks to pick the most car-like truck as the best truck. No surprises there...
