Every Honda Ridgeline owner has probably fallen victim to vicious attacks in the comments section of YouTube and Facebook. To those who claim Ridgeline isn't a real truck because it comes standard with front-wheel drive, you should be quick to point out this 280-hp V-6 is the most fuel-efficient in its class, even in all-wheel-drive form. Its 5000-pound towing capacity falls short of the Chevy, sure; but it has the most rear cargo space in this segment. Detractors will be left speechless before the weatherproof in-bed cargo area, the only one in the segment. Besides, the Ridgeline has been a C/D 10Best Trucks winner three years in a row. What's more truck than that?

wtf is up with this reasoning?

No surprises there with Tacoma bringing up the rear, yet consistently a top seller and consistently among the top in holding it's resale value.
Tacoma never seems to get due respect from the media/rankings.

The Ridgeline is not a truck. It's a Pilot minus the covered cargo area, and the GM trucks have pretty terrible reliability ratings.

I think the Odyssey and the Pilot share the same frame/drivetrain these days, but I could be wrong.

Car and driver are a bunch of quacks. Any idiot can make a list, that doesn’t mean it’s the best list.

To be fair car and driver lost all claim to objective ratings and became a corporate shill a looooong time ago. Hard pass.

"It's a great truck because we said so three years in a row! What's more truck than that?" Another thread dragging out this horse; I think the horse trotted itself out last time, but I digress.

Written by a combination of people who don't need/use trucks, hence their attraction to the civilized, car-like Ridgeline, combined with being used to tester vehicles and self-removed form the pain of out-of-warranty repairs and depreciation, hence their attraction to the bells and whistles of the Colorado. My rule when looking for a truck was 1. Not a Ridgeline, I literally just said I was looking for a truck and 2. Look around. What doe you see 10+ year-old examples of? Not a lot of midsize Chevy pickups running around, but a hell of a lotta Yotas.

The magazine is called Car and Driver... not sure why we're surprised they ranked a car as the best mid-size truck.

I can totally see the Ridge-line being number one on this list. It appeals more to the 60% freeway driver that just wants the convenience of a truck without needing it to be build like one. If Honda ever did a body on frame 4x4 setup, and maybe changing that god awful front design, It'd be a hell of a truck to compete with.

I mean they bother testing trucks and having a Car and Driver 10-Best Trucks list..

Let's talk about that for a second, how many trucks are out there? 10-Best would pretty much nab them all, would it not? Must be why they invite Jeeps, SUVs and the Ridgeline.

I have a different question. How many clicks did we just give C&D? How much advertising money did they just make off some stock photos and some paragraphs written in five minutes by a dude in jammies eating a bowl of chocolate frosted sugar bombs? Where’s the gnarly off-road magazine review that I can click instead? If I have to put money in these folks’ pockets, at least I can endorse someone who trashed a version of all these in the Rubicon or hauled some massive bales of hay or something. I want to convert the indignation/outrage apparatus into something cooler than the perfectly fine but not-Tacoma entity that is the Ridgeline. Can...can we do that?

I mean, they didn't earn my click. I'm for it, bring it on! Also, chocolate frosted sugar bombs. I see you are also a man of culture.

Clearly he didn't watch Rob Motive. Did no one show him Rob Motive? The Tacoma would've won, dammit.

The Ridgeline is always ranked #1, but doesn't sell. The Tacoma is always ranked towards the bottom, yet it vastly outsells the competition.

It's the same with the new Rav4 - it's usually ranked as one of, if not the worst small SUV, yet it's the best selling non-truck on the road.

Maybe a lot of reviewers aren't in touch with what consumers actually want.

They just want so badly to dish on Toyota for some weird reason.
