According to our good friend wikipedia it was bought by equity firm Thoma Bravo for 1.9 billion(!) on July 30, 2019.

The Ridgeline is all the truck most people need, because most people don’t need a truck. I think that's been the C&D mentality since the first Ridgeline and why they recommend it so much: it's the logical choice for most people. But driving the logical choice blows most of the time, especially for enthusiasts, so we drive things we like instead. Smiles per gallon matters more than just about anything. The Ridgeline is a 4 door El Camino with none of the cool; a car that can do truck stuff.

They also rate a lot more than cars. They do tech reviews, etc. They are essentially consumer reports in a different form, since they use data from surveys completed by some level of targeted consumer group. They then analyze and sell that data to companies for money so they know what to improve.

Now if you asked if there was some level of pay to play in the rankings...I could see that.

That said, Ford wins a lot of the car awards, and Chevy seems to be winning more of the truck stuff.

See @skierd's response. Hits the nail on the head.

Plus the taco sells through familiarity at this point. Honda has a good offer, but they don't do jack to actually sell the thing.

I don't trust an article that has two of the same truck in it... (GMC and Chevy...)

I have never heard a single complaint about a Honda Ridgeline. I've heard many complaints about the current Tacoma. Honda has a reputation for building a quality vehicle.

I'd like to see Toyota build a Highlander with a bed to compete with the Ridgeline.

Its like Rotten Tomatoes movie reviews from critics versus living, breathing people. I think most of the professional reviewers/critics are out of touch with the common man.

I test drove a Ridgeline and it was never in serious consideration for me, so that's my review.

Did it have any redeeming qualities? I kind of want to go try one out just for S&G.

It’s called job security. It would be like the fire department deliberately setting fires just so they can put them out(bad example I know).

What I find funny is all this bad press about the tacoma and yet it's still the no.1 seller. Tells you even with all those clicks and publicity, no one cares what they say!

Honda sells 2000 Ridgelines per month, what would Toyota have to gain?
