Hi TW. Well, after hitting 1,000 miles in my new truck, someone decided to back up into it in the parking garage at my work. Thankfully, the individual contacted our security department to notify me.

Long story short, there is about 4,000$ in damage. The areas of damage are

    Front Bumper
    Lower Front Valence
    Both Headlights
    Fog lights
    TRD PRO Skid
Grille (thankfully I DID NOT install my PRO grille)
    Grille surround
    Lower Right Cross member
Potentially left fender if it cant go back into regular fitment

No engine damage, no actual frame damage, AC Condenser/Radiator support were not affected.
Truck drives fine. It could have been way worse.

This is my first accident, yet I didn't even cause it.

I have an appointment October 10th at a reputable collision shop here in Southern Maine.

Should I just have them fix the truck to stock specs, or.... Get an ARB (or other manufacturer) metal front bumper.

I really do like the ARB front bumper, and my insurance will cover the cost of it. But I am hesitant to have someone cut into the truck. I don't offroad, but I am positive the bumper would be a good investment for the truck.

    Thoughts?

Outcome of accident . Thankfully no one was hurt

I'm not seeing $4k of damage, but maybe it's just the pictures.......

Only you can make up your mind on the bumper. If you're going to do it, now is a great time, 'cause you'll be getting a new skin.

Um ARB is paid for? Deciding whether to get the combo meal for lunch is 10x harder.

Sorry for damage on your new truck by the way. But as far as excuses go this is as good as it gets - go for it!

Get the ARB or other aftermarket metal bumper.

Does the parking garage have surveillance cameras?

I don't have a 3rd gen, but I can attest that an after market bumper will withstand much more than factory bumper.

All new trucks will be a used truck eventually.

Are you keeping this truck more than 5 years? If yes, get the bumper and cut away. If selling in less than 3 years, don't cut and dont add the ARB. You subtract from the value.

After 5 years, the bumper won't add any value to the resale, but it won't subtract any value either.

I Won't be without my ARB. I hit a deer 10 days ago. No damage to truck or bumper.

No it does not. I work at a Hospital. Doesn't that make you feel safe as an employee? Ridiculius.

    Thinking ARB...

Sad. Faceless strangers on the internet telling you what to do with a $35k truck that has just been popped...... :anonymous:

Like I said. Only YOU can decide. If you're going to do it during the pristine era of a new vehicle (which you may consider over now), now is the time.

YOU have to decide if the weight and other implications are overridden by the additional functionality and risk that it brings.

If your considering it, you should do it as now is the perfect opportunity. Hey from fellow southern Mainer, what shop is doing the work?

Keeping the truck much longer than five years. I own it outright.

It's already been smacked, so why not cut? You want the ARB and will have to cut new parts later, so why not now and not waste parts and money? Plus, the next person who hits your front end will have the damage, not you!

Well, if it is going to be a stock truck, Moody's (the best location they have).

If I go ARB or other aftermarket, I will have a close family friend who owns Black Point Collision do it (Chris).

Yes I am aware, but it always nice to get some feedback from you TW members. In my opinion, as soon as you leave the lot, it ain't new, its used, idc if it has 15 miles on it, but I see what your getting at !

Too poor to list anything interesting.
That sucks OP. That sucks being so new and such low mileage.

Congrats on your new steel bumper, though.

And I believe there's a winch group buy going on.
