I have not used the Treds personally but I've seen them used. They are NOT the same as Maxtrax. There are a lot of traction aids that look similar but I have not seen one that works like the Maxtrax.

The Treds only have a nice ramp on one end. The opposite end is essentially a rounded off corner. The handles are crap on the Treds too. Not comfortable to hold at all if you use them as a shovel. It's a lousy design and they are more flimsy than the Maxtrax. The Maxtrax are the most rigid of all the ones I've seen.

Recent use of Maxtrax. These things just work. This extraction took less time that rigging a strap or a winch.

And just like that, the Overland Expedition thread becomes the Maxtrax GB thread :p

They're already spoken for. I'm sure he can get more but it'll be a little bit before he has them.

Well if I could pick the color...I'd really want the desert tan. But beggars can't be choosers.

Yeah I'd be in for a set of the Desert Tan as well.

Listen I can't promise a group buy. All I can do is ask him about it and see if he can get enough to do it. I'm happy to do the legwork and see if we can set it up, but I can't promise anything.

There are a variety of colors and Kurt could probably get any of them.

I'd be interested no matter what the color. I have a pair of smittybilt ramps that I have used a few times and can't complain about them. I have been wanting another pair so I have a full set of 4 so this might be a good chance to test out the maxtrax.

Those are the ones on Kurt's personal truck. At one point of that trip we had no less than 10 Maxtrax being used at the same time.

I have contacted Kurt to see about a group buy. I'll report back when I hear anything.

I am sure they have more into them than that. You have the cost of design, prototypes, testing, tooling, etc.

I've seen a set of maxtrax once before. I can definitely do they're more than just a molded piece of plastic. They can be used as bridges for crying out loud.

Kinda cheesy video with stupid music but still shows some of the Maxtrax features. The part where they show the "bridging" demonstration with a single Maxtrax would crack the Smittybuilt ones no question.
