I understand the cost of getting these things to market, but they're still expensive! But I can be sold on a good product regardless of the cost, and from what I'm hearing here, they seem to be held in high regards.

Edit: in other words... I'm trying to eat crow, so please let me do it gracefully.

 

I'm not saying the smittbilts are stronger than maxtrax, I know they aren't, but this video is somewhat misleading. He is applying force to them while they are upside down which is obviously not the way the product was design to take the weight distribution.


Anyone know how much weight a single maxtrax can handle?

 

box, I'm also down for a set or two if he is able to get a hold of them. I would prefer tan as well but if the deal is good enough I'd even take pink.

Upside down or not, if they can crack from a dude pushing on it, it's not going to hold up to the weight of a vehicle. The SB ramps will be better than nothing if you have somewhat level ground underneath them.

So I heard back from Cruiser Outfitters. He said he's happy to help out with a group buy. The only problem right now is that the black ones are backordered for another month or so. I think tan and orange should be available though. Would everyone rather we wait until black is available before starting the group buy, or just go with what is available?

There are still details to figure out so I don't have pricing yet.

 

i might be down for another orange set...i already have 2 orange, might as well complete the set

Came for Overland info and pictures, stayed for the Maxtrax ha ha. I would be interested in a set as well.

 

I would never use my smittybilts to bridge across a major rut or anything but I have given them some decent use and have no complaints.

Before I got some decent tires on my wife and I went out for a drive and it had been raining on and off for a few days prior. We were about 15 miles back on a trail and the rain had been gradually increasing and the road/trail started getting washed out. My rugged fails were all over the place and in one area the road traversed a steep slope and part of the road had slid away making a 100 foot stretch that was to narrow for the truck to pass safely. It was our only way back out so I walked along side the truck using the smittybilt ramps one in front of the other to stabilize and allow the truck to roll forward without sliding down the hill. In my case they were the only reason I got home that night. That being said, I certainly think they have their limitations as does anything else.
