I'm not positive as to how much but CO2 is heavier than air.

stupid question, is it heavy enough to affect gas mileage when used in place of either compressed air or compressed nitrogen?

Thats a question for the ages. ANyone know the volumetric equasions for air/nitrogen/co2/ tires?

wonder how much one would need to cary with them to refill 35"s

a nitrogen tank of roughly equal size of a co2 tank is nowhere near the same volume of gas. I have both. A 40 cubic foot n2 tank (nitrogen tanks go by cuF) is about the same size as a 20lb co2 tank. A 20lb co2 tank has 180 cubic feet compared to the same size n2 tank which has 40 cubic feet. Big difference... That 180 cubic feet will fill roughly 40 33" tires from 20psi to 40psi (20psi fillup)

any other uses for either of the two gasses on trail to make them more or less desirable?

im much more familiar with nitrogen, as they use them in aircraft tires and hydraulic systems... but i wouldnt know my frozen foot from co2. if you can compress more co2 into the same size container than n2 though... i would stand to say you could get a little refrigeration action from discharging the co2 cylinder couldnt you? kind of like how a canned air gets frosty when you use it to long?

You will get ice and frost from the expanding C02, especially if it's discharged quickly.

I just ordered a tank and complete C02 setup. Once I get it, I plan on seeing how long it lasts running air tools. I imagine it will run an impact wrench for a long time.

please do! id love updates. for longevity sake though, i think id go with an electric compressor. yeah, your co2 tube might last a while... but i have a renewable source in a compressor i think id rather stick with. to each their own it sounds pretty damn effective

This was too good to throw away..

1" Samson Turbo II Premium, 80k minimum breaking strength.

Bunged up the Dyneema jacketing, wasn't any good to use on the boat anymore. Gave it to member uscg2008!

120 feet should make a nice long recovery/tow strap!

I run a Powertank (10lb) and have run that setup in my 80 series and my Tacoma. I have never had an issue filling 35" or 33" tires. I have also used it to run air tools with no issue. The tank will frost if you run it quickly but, I've never had an issue with anything "freezing" up. The tank lasts a long time - I've re-inflated 2 or 3 times without any issues.

I highly recommend CO2 tanks, my only piece of advice is to ensure that you oil your air tools. I keep a impact wrench, cut off wheel, and grinder ready for any trail related repairs. Throw a Miller Multimatic 200 in the back of the truck and you can fix anything on the trail.

    - Mark

I have 20# and a 10# C02 tanks for beer brewing. All I need is the regulator and hose.

No no no, you're doing it wrong. you're not supposed to take the tank from the keg. you're supposed to grab the entire keg and CO2 to bring along. you got a truck with a bed for a reason :D
