I have one of the large Pelican 1690 cases with no foam I have been using for all my dry goods and pots and pans. Trying to make it more organized/like a chuck box. Anyone have something similar with pictures they can post up? Trying to be more orgainzed for when I do longer trips. Thanks!

Last year I solved a major pain point for us. I condensed everything "kitchen" (except stove), from an 18-gallon rubber maid tote into a 3-drawer tool box. It gets loaded on the ass end of the Tacoma, so during travels, we have access to all. It was a game changer for us. More details here.

We rock the yellow top totes too. We're base campers and they work well for us.

Another sweet idea, Nick. I love looking at what is out there and utilizing it in a new way. it seems these could work effectively for other kit purposes, too, especially because they make better use of vertical capacity. Of course, I have a long bed, so my life doesn't suck as much as yours :cookiemonster:.

When I have this truck set up for more adventurous overnights that do not include our trailer and its built in galley/Partner stove, this would be a good option. Curious what stove you use? I bet I could get the Partner and a couple smaller propane bottles in that bottom drawer.

I am interested in that also.

Wife has been asking for some sort of "chuckbox" setup

I use a picnic basket/cooler to hold all of my kitchen gear. I don't have an actual picture of the one I have. It's seen some abuse over the years and I'm looking to replace it soon.

But for you to get an idea, it's something like this.

    image.jpg

I really like these bags because it keeps all of your cutlery, plates, bowls and cups organized. Rather than using the cooler section as a cooler I use it to store all of my pots, pans, cutting board, etc. It's great for keeping everything organized and mobile.

:) You're welcome. I got mine at Wally world online I think it was $119, but I can't remember. I got it there because 90 day return policy, just in case, and I could return locally if needed.

See the quoted post below for product details.

I have a CampChef Everest. It gets stowed in one of the yellow top totes. It works, but I can't recommend it. I've had to repair it internally in the field. The build quality is lacking because made overseas. If I were to buy a stove today, I'd buy a quality one like the partner steel which requires no special packing, can be packed as is.

In our yellow kitchen toolbox there is a Jet boil, and a small backpacking stove, but that's only backup if something goes wrong with the CampChef.

I have a CampChef Everest as well. I haven't had any issues with mine (yet). Two things I do like about it is its high BTU output and it's low temperature control.

The stove does put out some great heat, and good control. I also like that I can fit two large pans on it at the same time. I just wish it was a bit more robust.

What went wrong on mine is the tube that mates with the brass regulator, got pushed inside the stove. Had to use some pliers to reposition it so that the brass tube could mate and thread the collar on. Thank goodness we pack tools :)

Wow. Very impressed with that. May do something similar like thag but still utilizing the box to save money. I have a smaller one as well I may put all the plates and utensils in. Will report back later when I find a solution to the clutter

I like these as well. I know it's been covered probably several times. But curios to hear what you guys Carry for longer trips as in recovery gear and tools. Had to use my set for the first time this last trip (not on mine thank god) and need to add some things. Just want to cover all my bases though.

The partner is a fucking jet engine...on wheels...in a suitcase. Nothing to go wrong, really. Highly recommended.

I have an old Coleman green suitcase with the leather plunger primer pump (white gas), and even though it is on old, clunky, bulky, inefficient dinosaur, it was my dad's and has too much sentimental value and memories for me to get rid of it yet.

I have an old MSR whisperlight international, too, which will burn kerosene if necessary, but even with white gas, it is a filthy little fucker. Backpacking we use an old super simple and compact gaz stove my wife has. We simply have had no reason to replace it yet.

    :)

This was just a few hours after we took delivery of the teardrop. Inaugurated it at Hendy Redwoods, Northern California.

Same, they're great. I just added a fridge slide and was glad to find they still configure in the bed nicely.

For those of you who make this a family thing (wife and younger children along for the ride), how has that changed what you bring along or how you set up camp?

    Just looking for ideas.
