Access cab, double cab caps WILL NOT FIT regular cab 2nd gen trucks. I repeat: Access cab, double cab caps WILL NOT FIT regular cab 2nd gen trucks. So I am limited in my options for caps. I would love to get a mid-rise for a regular cab, but leer, snugtop, and ARE don't offer one for a regular cab anymore. Snugtop outback is pretty neat but for $3300 installed its kind of expensive with not a lot of options.

It sounds like the masses would like to see me with a MFG fiberglass cap. I am headed to a MFG this weekend to discuss my real world options, weights and prices. Lakeland truck caps are made here in Wisconsin so it is one of the reasons for consideration.

Thanks for the input so far.

Well. that is a canvas or canvas like temporary topper. NOT a fiberglass one.

If you plan on living out of the truck for awhile, and need the extra space, look at going with a contractor/commercial style canopy. They have a lot more interior room, and you can get them a little taller than the truck also so you'll have more headroom.

There is a 2000 regular cab mid rise cap 1 mile from my work. The guy wont let me check it out because he doesn't want to waste his time lifting it on and off the truck just to "see if it fits the cab". My idea for the 1st gen cap would be to create a "bottom shell" so the whole thing could be slid in and out. Alas... back to the drawing board.

ARE also makes a similar style shell if there's a dealer for them near you.

I first gen shell will "fit" on your second gen, but the second gen is wider than the first gen, so it will sit on the truck funny.

Here is my 2014 TRD Off-Road.
Currently it sits on ToyTec springs and Bilstein 5100s all around with a ToyTec AAL. Cooper Discoverer ATP 265/75R16. I bought the SL rated tires which was a mistake. I really chewed them up on the 10k mile trip loaded with gear the entire time.

Softopper with custom Rotopax and Maxtrax mounts (they broke in the middle of the trip, btw), Yakima Megawarrior basket on the OEM cross bars.

Softopper is good. I need to replace the weather stripping on the bed rails though. The bedside mounts didn't fit well and tore up the adhesive and foam. Living in the northeast we get a lot of rain, and I had to seal the upper seams after a good downpour one day. It comes with a bottle, so I would just do it before the initial mount.

Tenting. Bed was full of gear.

Camped in Michigan, Utah, and California. Lots of time crashing with friends, family and a few hotels.

I'll try to find some of mine here in a few. But @jberry813 has it nailed. When we took the kayak's out we did the same thing as he did. Tie them down on the top of the RTT. \/\/\/

    Looks good buddy.

Let me know. I'll take a few too.
