That's just for emissions purposes, if a vehicle is older than 25 years, it no longer has to meet emissions because it can be considered a classic. Just because a vehicle is not biult in the us doesn't mean it automatically fails our emissions, some state just do a visual test on all the equipment and if it all looks good and it's not belting black smoke, they will sign off on it. European emissions are more strict than ours.

You do have to do some shady stuff at the Port to get it into the country through customs however. I won't call it illegal per say. It's just more really really stretching the truth.

Well, good luck with that endeavor. I know a few in the LandCruiser importing world and all have said 25 is 25 years.

I feel you. Yet all the auto collectors I have talked to say yes, it is possible. Even my court house dmv said yes it's possible. So I am at least gonna try. I would be dumb not to.

How you organize everything will help you putting everything away. I used to have one big action packer that had everything in it. However it isn't compartmentalized in there and it wasn't dust/water proof (back when I had a bed rack + RTT, everything in the bed was exposed to the elements). That's when I found the ToughSystem tool storage system by Dewalt. Water and dust proof, and customizable to however you want. This made it SO much easier to find stuff and to put things away.

It's worked great in the last year. I actually have a Vagabond Drifter now so I'll be going away with this tool box as I'm currently building custom drawers and pull outs in the bed.

Undisclosed location in the white mountains... There are a TON of great places up there, many with water.

Thanks! It's worked wonders, but I'll be getting rid of it soon

bc the internet and social media ruins all of the good spots. They tend to become over populated and trashed by people that don't really give a shit about preserving the beauty of the area. Most of the places I find, I do so by doing a lot of research and studying Google earth and topographical maps.

It just sucks when you go thought all that and get to the campsite and it's already trashed. Or some guy is living out of his trailer. I'd imagine northern AZ probably isn't as bad as Colorado with that though. Pretty hard to find an area out here that doesn't already have some one in it, or evidence of recent activity.

That's how it was in California sadly. But they also don't let you roam freely in Cali, hippy environmentalists.

Social media ruins the easy to get to spots. The drunk crowd that ruins the spots aren't seeking middle of nowhere remote locations that ate hard to get to, nor do they want a barren high desert location.

They're looking for lakes and rivers 1 hr out of town that you can drive a Jeep Cherokee (new one) too following a state maintained dirt road.

Oh man, I was exploring a lot of the back country near Crested Butte this summer and was shocked at the number of campsites that were just destroyed by what looked to be people living out of their cars. Oddly enough, I read an article that was talking about how the cost of living was so high in CB that the local workers couldn't afford housing there and thus were forming camping communities out in the woods, contaminating the fresh water supply and leaving trash everywhere.

Ah the good old days. The population explosion on the Front Range and the proliferation of 4WD vehicles has ruined some spots. Bill Moore lake for example, I don't mind mentioning it because the road to it is virtually impassable these days.

I went there in 2000 with a bone stock Taco, no problem. Tried to go there when I bought the '07 T4R in 2016, capable offroad vehicle. Got to the beginning of the unmaintained road outside Empire and there was 42 Jeep Wranglers built to the max lined up airing down. I thought, "Dafuq is this, I'm going fishing." Passed them, got about 1/4 mile up the road and that road was so torn up I had to turn around.

Jeep club from Texas, unfortunately I didn't turn around quickly enough, had to pull over and wait for all 42 of them to pass me (which is how I got the count). The mutts were nose to tail, and that's how that road got torn up.

On the back side of the elk preserve next to Jackson, WY is the same way. Borderline Burning Man status with all the lifties and Service job type people.

That's the problem with these resort towns. They tend to cater to the "well to do" and drive out the locals and those who work in the service industry to support said "well to do'ers".. But trashing the wilderness areas is not an acceptable alternative.

The trail to Bill Moore is far from impassable. A stock Taco can make it up there no problem. If anything the only thing you would need is sliders, maybe.
