@fatfurious2 and I came to an agreement on his 50L ARB, a model I've been able to scope out in person a few times. Thanks for the offer though.

I made something similar using size 32650 LiFePo4 cells (4s20P). 100Ah weighs 29lb. It's not as simple as AGM or Lead, requires battery management. Overcharging or draining a Li battery to zero will destroy it.

Page 647. Post #12922 is the one I made. Runs my 50l dometic indefinitely. Fridge sits under a tent on a bed rack so I put a backpack cover over the fridge, and that helps a bunch.

I bought a small harbor freight pelican knockoff box and have 3 portable xray machine batteries that we use for the portable XRay machine in it wired to a marine grade 12v, USB, volt meter, etc. I have about $50 in all of it and used it for my 2.5 week camping trip charging phones, tablet, lights, etc. Its 48mah I believe. All the use it dropped from 12.8 volts to 11.8 volts after.

How does the case hold up in the rain?

I haven't left it in the downpour rain, but if it is raining I leave junk plugged into it, has worked that way fine. It stays in the bed so if it's raining its under the RTT for the most part.

I’m looking for another “rifle” sized case for the roof. I have a Plano one already that’s works perfectly, but I don’t want to pay Plano prices for another one.

I like the size of the small case. Tugging batteries gets heavy so I wouldn't go too cheap where its going to tear the plastic. I see some boxes ( like the trolling motor USB box ) That people use but throwing it around doesn't seem like its going to hold up very long. Also what I like is I can pitch it in the floor board of my truck and use it inside while traveling to charge my camera or other devices on the go as well.

Plano is the budget brand, bro. DLA's DRMO program might be a good source for some used pelicans if you can find a local DRMO yard.

I know they’re the budget brand, hence why I went with them. But I want cheaper haha
Plus, it appears they redesigned the one have and I’m not a fan of the new one. With that said, I haven’t really taken an extended amount of time searching for the same one.
What is the DLA DRMO program you’re talking about?

Basically, anytime the military wants to get rid of equipment, they go through the Defense Logistics Agency, and they sell it off rather than just throw it out (most times). It's also a way that military units can get stuff cheap by buying it off of other units.

That's usually where a lot of the mil surplus stores acquire their stuff that isn't just knockoff crap as well. That's probably where that .mil vehicles sales place in springville gets all their HMMWvs, etc as well.

The more I think about it though, its almost unheard of to buy 1 pelican case this way. Usually you buy a truckload of pelican cases, and then it is your problem to pick up, transport and do whatever with it. Usually they only sell big stuff like vehicles in singles. For example:

    https://www.go-dove.com/en/auction/view?id=13321217

for $165, you can get 12 PALLETS of Hardigg cases (~200 cases total), much to Cristin's point about RTT shipping issues, then you gotta figure how to charter a damn semi to get all of them to UT from NC.

Yeah, there's some unreal stuff on there. It's just the whole "getting it home" part that adds up.
