    I actually got it by checking a few days before for cancellations. Otherwise, you have to book months ahead. Good luck, it’s a great site.

    Hey guys! I'm getting close to having my rig ready for it's first overlanding adventure, and as I'm getting more gear on the truck, I'm finding myself more concerned with how to go about to securing my gear from theft. Specifically, what do y'all recommend for securing/locking gear like MaxTrax, shovel, axe, rotopax, etc to the bedrack (UpTop TRUSS). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

    Canopy. Everything goes inside. Shovel goes right at the front of the bed, behind the dry box with tools and recovery equipment. Axe is close to the back beside the fridge. Dont use maxtrax or rotopax. I sometimes take a Jerry can with me.....

    Open bed is bad for potential vandalism IMO.

    So to answer the question...I dont have a suggestion for what actual products to buy. I went through all this when I had a bedrack. Never going back to one.

    I don’t plan on leaving anything in my bed day to day, and I already have a bed rack. Mainly just looking for suggestions on what locks and such that people use and recommend

    If you don't leave all your Overlund stuff on your truck 24/7/365 how will people know you Overlund? In all reality locks just keep semi-honest people away. If a thief want's your stuff they'll get it. A lot of mfr's have their own proprietary locks. I know hi-lift has a locking wing nut thingy that can be used with their mounts. IIRC frontrunner makes a lock that's compatible with a lot of their stuff. Maxi-tracks also have their own proprietary lock. I'd recommend getting a bunch of small weatherproof locks if your mounting options allow. Or another decent option is bike lock cable (though this isn't very overlund, negative overlund points for not using some sort of tactical cerakote proprietary lock). Bike cable/ cables are probably going to be the most theft resistant besides some of the proprietary hi-lift/ maxi-trax locks that are difficult just due to being able to access them with bolt cutters.

    :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
    That’s a very accurate assessment lol yeah, I was mainly asking here hoping for more feedback on what members have found that works or doesn’t work, because I was thinking along the lines of bike cables and such, but also I’m always interested to see what kinds of cool creative things some of y’all have thought up! I might just have to play around with some bike cables and such to see what fits and works. But yeah, locks only keep the semi honest people out for sure. There’s not much that either bolt cutters, an angle grinder or a portable band saw can’t get through!

    I've used bike lock over one storage trunk that's rack stored and even then, I never had it messed with beforehand. I intentionally kept low-cost items in there, like contaminants that I didn't want in or near other things (stove fuel, rock collections, spare parts, cheap camp eqpt.)

    Otherwise, I hard mount it to the roof rack. Chances are your common thief isn't going to climb atop your vehicle to let loose a rotopax fuel canister

    I use 1/8” stainless steel aircraft cable with loops crimped both ends and a small padlock. Ideally bought from a place that will let you use their crimp tool. I also strap the padlock down using a Velcro strap so it doesn’t rattle and wear paint off stuff. Make sure the cut end of the cable doesn’t protrude out past the end of the crimp ferrule as the small wires will cut.
    Won’t stop someone with bolt cutters but will prevent the spur of the moment thief

    I bought these for the trailer to secure the LP tanks, batteries, spare tire to deter the casual thief when boondocking. Master Lock Python Cable Lock - Vinyl Coated Steel - Adjustable Length - Up to 6' Long Master Lock Cable Locks 8419DPF (etrailer.com)

    I had coated chainlink from Ace Hardware with padlocks previously but the adjustable cable seems better.

    Oops. DV was an assumption on my part, I was thinking this was in a different thread. Anyway, it looks like a nice place, hope you had an enjoyable time.
